Forefront Church // Weekly Gel Group Study This study CAN be used individually, but we believe it’s best served by studying TOGETHER as a group. The early church gathered together and studied the teaching of Jesus and at Forefront we strive to follow that example. If you’re looking for a gel group, please email [email protected] and we will get back to you on the best group to find community and Bible study.

Series: The Code This Week’s Theme: Godʼs Word Provides Guidance

The Intro: Much like the infamous Konami Code (old code for Nintendo game ""), there are millions of things that creep into our heads that we cannot get rid of. From the lyrics to Tiny Dancer to those commercials with that stupid Gecko- we cannot seem to shake them out of our heads. What if we learned to put more than just movie quotes and song lyrics inside our little brains? What if we remembered things that matter? Well, in this series, "The Konami Code" we'll take a look at how The Bible (God's Word) brings revolution, combats sin, provides guidance, and brings change.

Group Ice Breaker: What is the best advice you ever received? What made it so good? What is the funniest or most ridiculous advice youʼve ever gotten?

Notes: People will readily accept guidance, and advice from just about anywhere. Oprah, Ellen, and a host of other television talk show hosts spew out opinions, and advice on how to live our lives and be successful. What if we looked to the creator of life for guidance in how we should live? What if we looked to Godʼs word for guidance, inspiration and hope? As we continue our series this week, lets look at how Godʼs word provides us with all the guidance we need in life, and His word is flawless.

Passages For Study: Psalm 119:105-112, Psalm 25:5, Isaiah 58:11-12 (scriptures located at the end of the study) Letʼs Talk It Out Together: 1. Where do people get guidance for living life from? Who do you tend to turn to for advice in life?

2. How has Godʼs word influenced your life? How can we learn to allow Godʼs word to have more influence in your life?

3. How has/does Godʼs word help us through the speed pumps in life?

6. How can we ensure God and His word is guiding your life instead of other things?

Psalm 119:105-112 “105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. 106 I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws. 107 I have suffered much; preserve my life, LORD, according to your word. 108 Accept, LORD, the willing praise of my mouth, and teach me your laws. 109 Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I will not forget your law. 110 The wicked have set a snare for me, but I have not strayed from your precepts. 111 Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart. 112 My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end.”

Psalm 25:5 “Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”

Isaiah 58:11-12 “The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. 12 Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.”
