TURKEY AEROSPACE & DEFENSE 2016 AEROSPACE TURKEY TURKEY AEROSPACE & DEFENSE 2016 Aerospace - Defense - Original Equipment Manufacturers Platforms - Clusters - Multinationals - Sub-Tier Suppliers Distinguished GBR Readers, Since the inception of the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries 30 years ago, significant steps have been taken to achieve the goals of having the Turkish armed forces equipped with modern systems and technologies and promoting the development of the Turkish defense industry. In the last decade alone, the aerospace and defense (A&D) sector's total turnover quadrupled, while exports have increased fivefold, reaching $5.1 billion and $1.65 billion in 2014, respectively. The industry's investment in research and development (R&D) reached almost $1 billion in 2014. The total workforce in the A&D industry reached 30,000 personnel, of which 30% are engineers. Even more remarkable, Turkey is now at the stage of offering its own platforms for both the local market and to international allies, and has commenced a series of follow up local programs. Although this progress has been achieved under the circumstances of a healthy and consistent political environment and in parallel with sustained growth in the Turkish economy, the proportion of expenditure for defense in the national budget and as a percentage of Turkey’s GDP has been stable. With the help of the national, multinational and joint defense industry projects that have been undertaken in Turkey by the undersecretariat, the defense industry has become a highly capable community comprising large-scale main contractors, numerous sub- system manufacturers, small- and medium-sized enterprises, R&D companies who are involved in high-tech, niche areas, research institutes, and universities. -
Aviation Activity Forecasts
SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON REGIONAL AIRPORT AIRPORT MASTER PLAN Chapter 3 – Aviation Activity Forecasts The overall goal of aviation activity forecasting is to provide reasonable projections of future activity that can be translated into specific airport facility needs anticipated during the next twenty years and beyond. The first draft of this chapter was prepared in January 2018. Following FAA review, several revisions have been made, including updated based aircraft and aircraft operations forecasts. The original forecasts are maintained as originally presented for reference. Overview and Purpose This chapter provides updated aviation activity forecasts for Southwest Washington Regional Airport (KLS) for the twenty-year master plan horizon (2017-2037). The most recent Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved aviation activity forecasts for KLS were developed for the 2007-2027 planning period in the 2011 Airport Master Plan update. The forecasts presented in this chapter are consistent with the current and historic role of KLS as a regional general aviation airport, capable of accommodating a wide range of activity, including business class turboprops and jets. The well-documented shortage of public use airports in Southwest Washington with comparable capabilities, highlights the importance of recognizing the regional role of KLS in its current and long term planning. The City of Kelso will consider if any unconstrained demand will not or cannot be reasonably met through the evaluation of airport development alternatives later in the master plan. -

(Oct. 12, 2009) – Hawker Beechcraft Corporation (HBC) today announced a recently-awarded contract to provide 24 of its new Beechcraft T-6C trainer aircraft to the Royal Moroccan Air Force. The contract represents several significant milestones for HBC, including the first sale of the all new T-6C trainer. It also marks the company’s third contract awarded this year for a Foreign Military Sale. “The T-6C is the world’s premier integrated pilot training solution and will provide the Kingdom of Morocco with the world’s most affordable trainer available today,“ said Jim Maslowski, president, U.S. and International Government Business. “The advanced technology of the trainer mirrors the systems and capabilities of today’s front-line military aircraft. We look forward to working with the Royal Moroccan Air Force as our first T-6C international customer and are pleased to be selected to modernize its trainer force.” The Royal Moroccan Air Force is the launch customer for the new T-6C model aircraft, which is an improved version of the T-6A Texan II. Like the newly certified T-6B for the U.S. Navy, the T-6C features an integrated glass cockpit and advanced avionics suite that greatly expands advanced training opportunities. The upgraded integrated avionics suite includes a Head-Up Display (HUD), Up Front Control Panel (UFCP), three Multifunction Displays (MFDs) and Hands-On Throttle and Stick (HOTAS). -

Having regard to the Commission Regulation (EC) No 2042/2003 of 28 November 2003 on the continuing airworthiness of aircraft and aeronautical products, parts and appliances, and on the approval of organisations and personnel involved in these tasks.2 Whereas: (1) Annex IV Acceptable Means of Compliance to Part- 66 Appendix 1 Aircraft type ratings for Part-66 aircraft maintenance licence (hereinafter referred to as Part-66 AMC Appendix I) is required to be up to date to serve as reference for the national aviation authorities. (2) To achieve this requirement the text of Part-66 AMC Appendix I should be amended regularly to add new aircraft type rating. (3) The regular amendment of Part-66 AMC Appendix I is considered as a permanent rulemaking task for the Agency. This decision represents the first update according to an accelerated procedure accepted by AGNA and SSCC. -

There is an extensivetheoretical and conceptualliterature on transactioncosts, but a relativelack of empiricalwork. This thesisapplies transaction cost economics to the UK aerospaceindustry focusing on the paradigmproblem of the make-or-buydecision and related contract design. It assesses whetherthe transactioncost approachis supported(or rejected)by evidencefrom an originalsurvey of theUK aerospaceindustry. The centralhypothesis is that UK aerospacefirms are likely to makecomponents in- housedue to higherlevels of assetspecificity, uncertainty, complexity, frequency and smallnumbers, which is reflectedin contractdesign.
