COLDSTREAM GUARDS ASSOCIATION SUB - BRANCH

Branch Newsletter February 2013

THE CENTENARY – SATURDAY 11 MAY

1. The Coldstream Guards Association will celebrate the centenary of its foundation on Saturday 11 May 2013 at Victoria Barracks, Windsor. Further details will be available once the format of the day has been worked out.

MEMORIAL WEEKEND

2. Memorial Weekend will be held 10-12 May 2013 with the Memorial Service being held in the Guards Chapel at 1400 on Sunday 12 May. The preacher will be the Major The Reverend W O C Pearson-Gee, a former Coldstream officer. The Service will be followed by the march to the , Horse Guards where the Colonel of the will lay a wreath.

3. The Order of March will be 1stBn, 2ndBn, 3rd/4th/5th Bns. The wreath bearers will be found by the Dorset & West Hants Branch.

4. It is now possible to take very reasonably priced meals in provided that they are booked in advance. To book let the Branch Secretary know ASAP.

5, 2014 Regimental Diary can now be ordered from Tommy, also anyone wanting a 2012 edition of the Coldstream Gazette which hopefully will be in late Feb/early March. The Regiment will be allocated a limited number of tickets for the Queen’s Birthday Parade this year, and as usual demand is likely to exceed supply. Let Tommy know if you want any.

6. The dates of the Parade and Rehearsals, with ticket description and prices are as follows:

a. Major General’s Review – Saturday 1 June

Stand Seats (Free) b. Colonel’s Review (HRH The Prince of Wales) – Saturday 8 June

(1) Stand Seats (£10.00)

(2) Inner Line of Sentries (Free) c. Queen’s Birthday Parade – Saturday 15 June

(1) Stand Seats (£30.00)

(2) Inner Line of Sentries (Free)

Please remember that if they wish they can write directly to the Superintending Clerk at Headquarters , enclosing a stamped self-addressed envelope though there is no guarantee they will be successful.

7. HOUSEHOLD DIVISION 2013

The Massed Bands, Pipes and Drums and of the Household Division supported by The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, the Band of , and the Based Corps of Drums of The Army Cadet Force will Beat Retreat on Horse Guards at 8.30 pm on Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13 th June 2013.

Tickets can be booked through www.ticketmaster.co.uk. Tel no: 0844 847 2435. No refund can be given if the event is cancelled for reasons beyond the control of HQ Household Division.

8. COLDSTREAM GUARDS REUNION LIVERPOOL

Trevor Lawley is organising a reunion in Liverpool over the weekend 20th- 22nd September 2013. Please find the required booking forms attached.

9. BRANCH ID CARD.

If any of our Branch Members would like an ID card, send a passport sized photo in a self-addressed stamped envelope and I will send them one out. I have some ordered so we can do them ourselves.
