UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN Greater Alumni Association Scholarship

MISSION The USI Greater Indianapolis Alumni Association is committed to recognizing an area high school student who embodies the philosophy of education as a lifelong process which enables individuals to reach their highest potential and, in the process, enrich their community.

THE AWARD A $3,000 scholarship will be awarded in $750 allotments each fall semester for a maximum of four years of eligibility. The award will be applied by the USI Financial Assistance Office toward the recipient's tuition, fees, and books while attending the University of Southern Indiana and maintaining a cumulative 3.0 or better grade point average.

THE CRITERIA • The recipient must be a current-year graduating senior from a high school in one of these counties: Marion, Johnson, Morgan, Hendricks, Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Rush or Shelby. • The recipient must have a cumulative 3.25 or better grade point average to be eligible. • The recipient must register at USI as a full-time student (minimum of 12 hours per semester). • The recipient must maintain a cumulative 3.0 or better grade point average while attending USI.

CHECKLIST Applicants must return all materials to the Guidance office by postmarked by March 4, 2015.

Enclose the following materials: • An official high school transcript (counselor will attach) • The completed application • The 200-word essay in response to one of the following questions; Why are you interested in pursuing higher education? or What course of study do you plan to pursue and why?

SELECTION PROCEDURE The Scholarship Committee of the USI Greater Indianapolis Alumni Association will choose the recipient and one alternate from applications of students who meet the above criteria. In order for the committee to make its final decision, applicants may be required to participate in a personal interview with committee members. If for any reason the selected recipient does not enroll at USI, the alternate recipient will receive the scholarship.

ABOUT USI Founded in 1965, the University of Southern Indiana is a comprehensive public university enrolling over 9,902 students. USI is situated on a 300-acre campus in Evansville, the state's third largest city. The low student/faculty ratio allows students and faculty to develop a working relationship. USI offers baccalaureate degrees in over 80 major fields of study.
