ABC’s ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ to End After Season 6 07.11.2019 After six years of death, lies and extraordinarily complicated drama, ABC's How to Get Away with Murder will conclude after its upcoming sixth season, premiering Sept. 26. ABC made the announcement with the above spot, which splices together the most dramatic moments over the series' five-year run. Peter Nowalk, creator and executive producer, says the decision to end the show was "brutal," but timely. "For me, Annalise Keating's journey has always had a clear ending," he said in a statement. "Knowing I have 15 episodes left to finish her story, and the chance to give all the characters their own killer endings, is a gift rarely given to a series creator and I'm grateful to ABC and ABC Studios for the opportunity and creative freedom." The series, which stars Viola Davis as Professor Keating, follows a group a law students who face dangerous-and often fatal-situations around every corner. Season two will follow Keating's class through their final semester in law school as the deception, fear and guilt binding them together becomes deadlier than ever. In 2015, Davis became the first woman of color to win an Emmy for best lead actress in a drama. She has also earned two SAG Awards, a People's Choice Award and an NAACP Image Award for her portrayal in the show. "Viola Davis made television history with her unforgettable portrayal of iconic female anti-hero Annalise Keating," ABC Entertainment president, Karey Burke, said in a statement. "I am eternally grateful to her, Pete Nowalk and Shondaland for creating and bringing to life such a smart, sophisticated and groundbreaking series that has long been an integral part of Thursday nights on ABC." The series also stars Billy Brown, Jack Falahee, Aja Naomi King, Matt McGorry, Charlie Weber, Liza Weil, Conrad Ricamora, Rome Flynn and Amirah Vann. Nowalk advises fans to "buckle up" for the series' final twists of How to Get Away with Murder, premiering Thursday, Sept. 26. at 10 p.m. ET on ABC..
