Wicklow County Council is seeking a specific response to one of four specific north bound (towards Dublin) locations along this new stretch of roadway running from Rathnew to Arklow. This means that artists in developing their creative ideas, should take cognizance of the scale of the work proposed and the surroundings; the potential visual impact for the mobile viewer as well as durability and maintenance. Artists should clearly indicate the proposed scale of their work and whether it is intended for a specific site. A site visit will be arranged for shortlisted applicants in September. Artists are invited to consider all supplementary information, historical, archaeological and visual landscape in the preparation of their submission. Resource documents will available on: http://www.wicklow.ie/cent-art-commissions Please include with your submission supporting visual and written documentation indicating the scale of the work in relief to the surroundings. Further information on all submission requirements are below. If your proposal requires extensive site preparation and illumination provide outline details at stage 1.

St. MaelruairYs Graveyard Headstone Transcriptions Digitised from the St. MaelruairYs Teamwork Project Explanatory Note - How to use the Catalogue of Inscriptions The following is an example of a typical headstone included in this report. It is hoped that by studying the following that reading the inscriptions or indeed finding a headstone will be made simpler. Plot Maps are to be found at the end of this book. Original Page: 123 Plot Ref: A 172 1 / 2 Mason: N. P Roe Rathfarnham 3 Black marble headstone. 4 HORAN 5 SEAN HORAN DIED 29TH APRIL 1971 AGED 52 YEARS THY WILL BE DONE 1. This is the page of the original publication on which the burial was recorded, and the section in which the headstone is to be found. There are 12 Sections, A, B, E, F, G, H, I, J, K and L, and each section is clearly drawn on the survey maps. See overall map showing where each section is located. 2. Each headstone is given a number to aid in the drawing of the maps. No two headstones in the one section have the same number making it extremely easy to find the headstone in question. 3. The stone mason and where possible the address. It is only in recent years that masons have started putting their names on the headstones. In the older part of the graveyard this is a rarity. 4. The most important part of the headstone is the inscription. The inscription usually provides us with all the information necessary to find out who was buried there, what age they were and even their occupation.
