Mother’s Day may be past, but moms are still incredibly important when it comes to radio. Is radio still incredibly important to them? In 2021, American mothers are more connected to the internet than ever, consuming more audio online but listening to radio less, says a new study. Everybody is Talking About the Good Ole Days: RZA on the Soul of Music by Ericka Blount Danois If hip-hop tours, white appropriation, anniversary celebrations, books and hip-hop documentaries aren’t an indication that hip-hop has reached the status of Beatles-style nostalgia and reverence, then releasing a Wu-Tang Clan 20th anniversary reunion album, A BetterTomorrow, is solid proof that the genre has officially arrived. RZA, always the heart of the operation, worked tirelessly to round up the troops and dissolve beefs for the reunion album that dropped Dec. 2, 2014. “I wanted to make a record that pays homage to soul music and hip-hop,” he said about the making of this album. “I went to the past to make something for the future.” RZA came out of his own pockets to fund the album to the tune of half a million dollars. Some of the best in the industry are featured on the album—Rick Rubin, Adrian Younge, David Porter, Kenny Gamble and Rob Cavallo, all had their hands in the pot. Wu-Tang has always done things big and with vision. RZA led the 9-member group to an unprecedented label deal where each member was able to launch solo records. The deal allowed them to become the most revolutionary rap group of the mid-’90s releasing five group and 19 compilation albums totaling over 6 platinum records and over 40 million sold.

MEGHAN TRAINOR RELEASES VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE “ALL THE WAYS” TODAY STARRING ACTRESS BAILEE MADISON & A GIANT TEDDY BEAR NEW THE LOVE TRAIN EP OUT NOW (February 15, 2019 – Los Angeles, CA) Earlier today, Grammy® Award-winning superstar, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Meghan Trainor shared the music video for her new single “ALL THE WAYS,” directed by Brian Petchers (Pentatonix). Watch it HERE! The song is available on her recently released project, The Love Train EP [Epic Records]—available HERE! Debuted exclusively via SEVENTEEN, the visual showcases a different kind of romance for actress Bailee Madison. • 2018 Program Guide
Thanking Mayor William Samaras and the Mayor’s Holiday Fest Planning Committee and all the generous sponsors for helping end youth homelessness in our community! from all the Staff and Students at CTI’s YouthBuild of Greater Lowell Program 155 Merrimack Street, Lowell MA 01852 978.459.0551, www.commteam.org #LowellYouthHousing A Message from Mayor Bill Samaras and Karen Frederick, CEO, CTI Youth homelessness is a persistent problem in the City of Lowell. Community Teamwork estimates that there are over 100 young people in Lowell each year who are experiencing homelessness for a variety of reasons including family conflict and abuse, sexual identity, pregnancy, addiction or mental health issues, contact with the juvenile justice system or aging out of foster care. To help combat this issue and to provide support to these young people in our community, Mayor Bill Samaras is continuing the fundraising effort started last year and we hope that you will join with us to help make it a success once again! All proceeds from the event will be donated to Community Teamwork and their efforts as the lead agency for the Merrimack Valley Youth Consortium that works to prevent youth homelessness. This program has been working with teens to help them reunite with their families or find safe affordable housing on their own. In many cases, it is simply a matter of helping a young person with a security deposit or to clear up past debts that can save them from spending years couch surfing, sleeping in their cars or in places not fit for human habitation.

  • Changes in the Arctic: Background and Issues for Congress
Changes in the Arctic: Background and Issues for Congress Updated May 17, 2021 Congressional Research Service https://crsreports.congress.gov R41153 Changes in the Arctic: Background and Issues for Congress Summary The diminishment of Arctic sea ice has led to increased human activities in the Arctic, and has heightened interest in, and concerns about, the region’s future. The United States, by virtue of Alaska, is an Arctic country and has substantial interests in the region. The seven other Arctic states are Canada, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark (by virtue of Greenland), and Russia. The Arctic Research and Policy Act (ARPA) of 1984 (Title I of P.L. 98-373 of July 31, 1984) “provide[s] for a comprehensive national policy dealing with national research needs and objectives in the Arctic.” The National Science Foundation (NSF) is the lead federal agency for implementing Arctic research policy. The Arctic Council, created in 1996, is the leading international forum for addressing issues relating to the Arctic. The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) sets forth a comprehensive regime of law and order in the world’s oceans, including the Arctic Ocean. The United States is not a party to UNCLOS. Record low extents of Arctic sea ice over the past decade have focused scientific and policy attention on links to global climate change and projected ice-free seasons in the Arctic within decades. These changes have potential consequences for weather in the United States, access to mineral and biological resources in the Arctic, the economies and cultures of peoples in the region, and national security.
