Gwynn Jones, the donor's father, including a diary (Collins' Handy Diary) for 1898, containing some entries by T. Gwynn Jones in shorthand 'Llurig Badrig', a Welsh translation by T. Gwynn Jones of a prayer in Irish (two versions in manuscript 16 June 1940, and a copy printed by Gwasg Gomer, Llandysul); two letters, 1937, from Daniel O'Connor, Romford, to T. Gwynn Jones, the first of the two asking him to translate 'The Hound of Heaven' (Francis Thompson) into Welsh for inclusion in a volume of translations of the poem into various languages to be presented to Wilfrid and Alice Meynell, together with four drafts or versions of the translation and the beginning of another copy, all in the autograph of T. Gwynn Jones; a copy of an 'englyn' in English by T. Gwynn Jones, 1904; a xerograph facsimile of 'Cywydd Priodas Mr. a Mrs. Glyn Dafydd' composed by 'Gwynn Sion', Dublin, 18 July 1908 (University Library, Liverpool MS. 2.71); a letter, 1960, from Dr. J. Gwynn Jones, with emendations in another hand and a draft in pencil of the same verses; a short article on [Dr. John Williams, Brynsiencyn] by, and in the autograph of, T. Blwyddyn / Year Adroddiad Blynyddol / Annual Report 1972-73 Disgrifiad / Description A holograph volume of reminiscences of Charles Humphreys (1854-1924), father of the donors, who served in the Royal Navy and the Coast Guard service from 1870 to 1909 (NLW MS 20999B). Of particular interest is his part in carrying the body of Dr. David Livingstone from a French mission station two miles inland to his ship, which then transported it to Zanzibar. He was also at Mumbles at the time of a lifeboat disaster. Mr. S. C. Humphreys has also provided detailed biographical notes on his father's career, which have been inserted in the volume.
