CHARTRAND, LL.D. (HON), O.M. MANITOBA METIS FEDERATION Tawnshi, Aaniin, Bienvenue and Welcome to all our Citizens and especially to our Métis Elders and Youth. It is our Elders who continue to safe keep our culture and provide direction to our people. Our Youth are the reason why their parents and grandparents work hard and make sacrifices to secure their future. I welcome them here to assist in determining how we build that future. I also recognize the visiting dignitaries as well as our partners and sponsors to the Manitoba Metis Federation’s 2018 Annual General Assembly. As we gather here in Winnipeg, at the heart of our Homeland, I thank you for your participation and engagement while the Métis Nation’s Manitoba Métis Community builds a strong, connected and informed Government. The Annual General Assembly is not only a vital element of our Métis Nation governance. It is also the largest annual gathering of Métis Citizens across the Métis Nation. It is my wish that you may find the opportunity here to build community, find friendships, make connections and discover knowledge that you can carry forward through your lifetime and to future generations. The growing success of our Distinctions-Based, Nation-to-Nation, Government-to- Government
