For Immediate Release- June 25, 2007 ADULT NUISANCE MOSQUITO FOGGING PROGRAM INTERRUPTED BY INCLEMENT WEATHER LAST NIGHT PROGRAM TO RESUME THIS EVENING

Due to the inclement weather yesterday evening and overnight, the City of was not able to complete all the scheduled areas for Adult Nuisance Mosquito fogging for June 23 and June 24, 2007. Insect Management Areas 27, 28, 34, 36, 37, 39, 40, 45, 46, 48, 49 and 51 were fully completed. Only portions of the remaining Insect Management Areas were completed. These remaining areas are scheduled to be completed tonight, weather permitting.

Fogging cannot occur when temperatures are below 13 ° Celsius, if there is significant precipitation, and/or wind speeds are not conducive for fogging.

Tonight, weather permitting the Insect Control Branch will resume its Adult Nuisance Mosquito Fogging Program for the entire city beginning at 9:30 pm. Until further notice, fogging will continue on a daily basis between the hours of 9:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., weather permitting.

Tonight, June 25, 2007, crews will continue treatment in Insect Management Areas 22, 23, 24, 25, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 35, 38, 42, 43, 44 and 47. Upon completion of these areas crews will begin treatment in Insect Management Areas 20, 21 as well as St-Vital Park, Maple Grove Park and .

All buffer zones will be respected. Crews will ensure that the insecticide sprayer is turned off 100 meters on each side of a registered property on the front street, side street, and rear lane. (Please note that although the sprayer has been turned off the sound of the sprayer’s engine will continue to be heard.)
