Guide CLIC Lamballe

1st collection of poetry by Reun ar C’halan No. 143 October 2017 1 BRO NEVEZ 143 October 2017 ISSN 0895 3074 Editorial EDITOR’S ADDRESS & E-MAIL I had fully intended to get this issue of Bro Nevez out in Lois Kuter, Editor September but the month simply ran out on me. I blame 605 Montgomery Road it on my retirement. After 27 years as the Manager of Volunteer Services at the Academy of Natural Sciences Ambler, PA 19002 U.S.A. museum in Philadelphia I retired at the end of September. Organizing 27 years of paper and computer (215) 886-6361 files to prepare for my successor turned out to be quite [email protected] time-consuming … but satisfying in leaving things in good order and in thinning out thousands of pages of U.S. ICDBL website: www.icdbl.org document to be archived or simply thrown out. My job was always interesting and I will miss the people I worked with as well as the hundreds of volunteers I helped get on board to support the museum and its The U.S. Branch of the International Committee for the research. I will not miss the increasing load of Defense of the Breton Language (U.S. ICDBL) was paperwork that the job required, nor will I miss the daily incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation on October 20, commute by sometimes woefully late trains, nor will I 1981. Bro Nevez ("new country" in the Breton language) is miss waking up to an alarm clock before the sun rises. -

The Occitan troubadours were very familiar with the Matter of Britain, most probably before the poets of northern France 2. -

The Breton language and place names No. No. 147 151 Sept. 2019 1 Bro Nevez 151 Editorial The summer in Brittany is not only very active on the September 2019 music scene with its dozens of festivals and hundreds of concerts, workshops and festoù-noz, but there was a lot of activity on the linguistic front as well. The news is not ISSN 0895 3074 all good, as Bretons strive to maintain and advance the number of Breton speakers before it is too late. But it is clear that there is wide popular support for the Breton EDITOR’S ADRESS & E-MAIL and Gallo languages and schools seem to be expanding – very slowly – and more and more businesses and organizations seem committed to giving the Breton Lois Kuter, Editor language visibility (and audibility) in their work.
