Coach Brian Boyer is entering his 22nd season with the Red Wolves and 18th as their head coach. He has been named as the Sun-Belt Conference Coach of the Year four times while amassing more conference wins than any other basketball coach, men or women, in SBC history. Coach Boyer has led the Red Wolves to more than 20 wins in each of the last three seasons including last year’s record of 27-6 which included a remarkable conference record of 19-1 for their second outright conference championship in the last 3 years. During that same span his teams have not only won on the court, but have also succeeded academically as well, earning SBC Team Academic Awards. Coach Boyer is also the longest tenured basketball coach in the Sun-Belt Conference, which is an impressive feat in today’s college basketball.

Coach Tubby Smith was named as the 18th head coach of the Memphis Tigers men’s basketball team back in the spring and has already brought renewed excitement to the storied program. Prior to his move to Memphis, Coach Smith’s background includes stops as the head coach at Tulsa, Georgia, Kentucky, Minnesota, and Texas Tech. Known as an incredible teacher of the game, Coach Smith has amassed an incredible 557 wins and a winning percentage of .669. He was named National Coach of the Year in 2003 by several organizations, and led his 1998 Kentucky Wildcat team to the NCAA National Championship. Coach Smith is well respected by his peers as evidenced by his numerous Conference Coach of the Year awards and most recently his 2016 John R. Wooden Legends of Coaching Award.

Coach Mike Neighbors , a native of Greenwood, AR is entering his 6th season at Washington University and 4th as its Head Women’s Basketball Coach. The Huskies are coming off a remarkable season which ultimately culminated in the team’s appearance in the NCAA Final Four. Known as an excellent recruiter and an equally excellent developer of talent, Coach Neighbors has seen a total of nine players drafted in the WNBA and along all stops has been a part of the staff responsible for developing that school’s first or second all-time scoring leader. Coach Neighbors was a successful high school coach before entering the collegiate ranks and while his contributions to the game of basketball are numerous, none may be more widely known or respected than his weekly newsletters.

Coach Dennis Nutt was named the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Ouachita Baptist University in May of 2011 and since that time has created a culture of winning within the program. The Tigers are coming off a very successful 2015-16 campaign in which they won the Great American Conference Tournament and earned a birth in the NCAA Division II Tournament. This marked the second time in the last four years that Coach Nutt’s team accomplished both feats. His coaching tenure includes time as an assistant coach at Coastal Carolina and Arkansas State before serving as the head coach at Texas State University from 2000-2006. The former Little Rock Central High School standout was also a First Team All Southwest Conference performer at TCU before playing 3 seasons in the NBA.
