He has been named as the Sun-Belt Conference Coach of the Year four times while amassing more conference wins than any other basketball coach, men or women, in SBC history. Coach Boyer has led the Red Wolves to more than 20 wins in each of the last three seasons including last year’s record of 27-6 which included a remarkable conference record of 19-1 for their second outright conference championship in the last 3 years. During that same span his teams have not only won on the court, but have also succeeded academically as well, earning SBC Team Academic Awards. Coach Boyer is also the longest tenured basketball coach in the Sun-Belt Conference, which is an impressive feat in today’s college basketball. Coach Tubby Smith was named as the 18th head coach of the Memphis Tigers men’s basketball team back in the spring and has already brought renewed excitement to the storied program.
