Please confi rm your outing plans using the phone Transport 24 numbers and websites provided. 2 Introduction Initial concerns were raised by partnering agencies that there was a lack of awareness of social activities in the community that were accessible for people with and intellectual disability or acquired brain injury (ABI) and their carers. As a result this guide was developed to provide information on activities and services that are accessible for everyone. This social guide provides all the details needed to plan enjoyable outings that are accessible and value for money. ABOUT THIS GUIDE: Outings are presented in 4 categories: No cost (free) Low cost ($1 – 10) Medium cost ($11+) and Activity Dependent These costs refer to basic entrance fees or activities. In some cases, LOOK FOR THE COST CATEGORY additional activities are available at IN THE TOPP RIGHT HAND CORNECORNERR extra cost and this is outlined OR WITHINN THE TEXT in the Booklet. For other activities the cost depends on what you choose to do on your outing. Make sure you know what you want to do or how much you would like to spend while you are out so you have enough money. Transport and food costs are not included in the costing and will depend on what activity you do or where you go. You might like to take public transport to your next outing or activity. Public transport is relatively cheap, easy to access from most locations. Make sure that you are using the right train or bus timetable and have a ticket or MYKI card. The boardwalk has no handrails and is too narrow for wheelchairs; however, walking frames can be accommodated. Morwell Centenary Rose Garden, Morwell 5 Local Things to Do TRARALGON Newman Park Peterkin Street, Traralgon Within walking distance of the Latrobe Visitor Information Centre, Newman Park appeals to all ages. There is a large all ages playground which includes disabled equipment, a miniature steam train (which operates on the last Sunday of the month weather permitting), electric barbeques, park benches, toilets and ample parking. Victory Park Princes Highway, Traralgon Adjoining Newman Park on the Traralgon town centre side, Victory Park is a peaceful oasis located along the Princes Highway. Take a walk along the Traralgon Creek and why not roll out a picnic rug under one of the many beautiful trees, take a look inside the band rotunda or admire the Lars Compitalis marble sculpture crafted by acclaimed sculptor Clive Murray-White. As you enter the carpark there is an information board and bench seats marking the beginning of the gravel/ boardwalk circuit. The track takes you around the wetland which is home to numerous bird life and native plants. Observation areas have been designed to accommodate wheelchair access.
