2 Introduction Initial concerns were raised by partnering agencies that there was a lack of awareness of social activities in the community that were accessible for people with and intellectual disability or acquired brain injury (ABI) and their carers. As a result this guide was developed to provide information on activities and services that are accessible for everyone. This social guide provides all the details needed to plan enjoyable outings that are accessible and value for money.

ABOUT THIS GUIDE: Outings are presented in 4 categories:

These costs refer to basic entrance fees or activities. In some cases, LOOK FOR THE COST CATEGORY additional activities are available at IN THE TOPP RIGHT HAND CORNER CORNER extra cost and this is outlined OR WITHINN THE TEXT in the Booklet. For other activities the cost depends on what you choose to do on your outing. Make sure you know what you want to do or how much you would like to spend while you are out so you have enough money. Transport and food costs are not included in the costing and will depend on what activity you do or where you go. You might like to take public transport to your next outing or activity. Public transport is relatively cheap, easy to access from most locations. Make sure that you are using the right train or bus timetable and have a ticket or MYKI card. That said, all of the outings can be accessed using cars or buses if you prefer.

4 MOE MORWELL Ollerton Avenue Bushland Reserve Morwell Centenary Rose Garden Ollerton Avenue, Moe Commercial Road, Morwell The main entrance to the Reserve is located on Coalville Walk through four acres of landscaped gardens where Road. The boardwalk has no handrails and is too narrow for wheelchairs; however, walking frames can be accommodated.

TRARALGON Newman Park Peterkin Street, Within walking distance of the Latrobe Visitor Information Centre, Newman Park appeals to all ages. There is a large all ages playground which includes disabled equipment, a miniature steam train (which operates on the last Sunday of the month weather permitting), electric barbeques, park benches, toilets and ample parking. Victory Park , Traralgon Adjoining Newman Park on the Traralgon town centre side, Victory Park is a peaceful oasis located along the Princes Highway. Take a walk along the Traralgon Creek and why not roll out a picnic rug under one of the many beautiful trees, take a look inside the band rotunda or admire the Lars Compitalis marble sculpture crafted by acclaimed sculptor Clive Murray-White. Follow the path under the bridge for a walk through to Victory Park. Traralgon Railway Reservoir Conservation Reserve Hickox Street, Traralgon The reserve comprises 29.5 hectares of varied bush and grassland with a lake in the centre which forms part of the catchment of the Traralgon Creek. As you enter the carpark there is an information board and bench seats marking the beginning of the gravel/ boardwalk circuit. People can come to the public libraries in Latrobe City to sit and relax as well and read books magazines. They can borrow videos and dvds, as well as download e-books. There are special activities at the library such as digital scrapbooking and tracing family history. At all libraries there are hearing loops and charging stations for recharging wheelchairs.
