DLE/63/11 Booterstown Marsh

Question: Councillor V. Boyhan

“To ask the Manager to set out what plans, if any, the Council’s Parks & Landscaping Service have for pruning or removing tress along the roadside bank of Booterstown Marsh?”

Reply:

The Parks Department are arranging to have an Ecological Assessment carried out as Article 6 of the Habitats Directive in relation to requested arboricultural work in the vicinity of Booterstown Marsh.

We will be guided by its report as to what level of tree works if any can be carried out in this area.

DLE/64/11 Fan Light for Town Hall Door

Question: Councillor J. Dillon Byrne

“To ask the Manager could the Heritage Officer and Senior Architect investigate a more fitting fan light for the Town Hall Door opposite Dart Station on Crofton Road with “Court House” carved in granite over this door?”

Reply: The Conservation Section of the Architects' Department will examine this possibility and report back to the next Area Committee.

DLE/65/11 Opening of 'Oratory'

Question: Councillor S. Fitzpatrick

“To ask the Manager if the ‘Oratory’ will be open to the public this summer. If so how will it be promoted to tourists and to members of the public?”

Reply: The Oratory will be open as part of the Summer of Heritage 2011. It has been an extremely popular attraction over the last three years and it is anticipated that it will continue to attract visitors from DLR and the rest of Ireland. The promotion of Summer of Heritage will be through the press, distribution of the brochure and posters.

DLE/66/11 Removal of Cherry Trees

Question: Councillor S. Fitzpatrick

“To ask the Manager to explain why Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council removed Cherry trees from Saval Park Crescent, Dalkey, and did not replace them with new trees?”

Reply:

The replacement trees at this location are included on our Tree Planting Programme for this season.

DLE/67/11 Street Cleaning

Question: Councillor H. Lewis

“To ask the Manager to include the full length of the road and green space as far as (address supplied) for cleaning as currently not all of the area is being cleaned?”

Reply:

This road in this area was added to the worklist and has since been cleaned. It will be monitored in the future and any cleaning required will be arranged. The green area at this location is maintained on a regular basis and following landscaping works later this year, the area will be re-seeded.

DLE/68/11 Inspection of Green Space

Question: Councillor H. Lewis

“To ask the manager to inspect the green space at the top of Ashlawn Park as it is currently being misused by cars parking for St. Colmcilles National School, note the deterioration in the green space and propose an alternative for parking that will not further damage the green?”

Reply:

The issue of car parking is a matter for Transportation Department and this matter has been forwarded to them for examination.

It is noted that significant damage is evident, where vehicle(s) are parking on the open space. The problem appears to be ongoing.

Parks Department staff will monitor the situation to see what measures can be put in place to deal with the unauthorised parking.

DLE/69/11 Removal of Halloween Debris

Question: Councillor H. Lewis

“To ask the Manager to remove the burned out debris now left over since Halloween that litters the green space in Davitt Park, Ballybrack?”

Reply:

This area has been cleaned and bon fire material removed in recent weeks.

DLE/70/11 Inspection of Tree

Question: Councillor D. O’Callaghan

“To ask the Manager to arrange for the inspection of a tree outside (address supplied) with a view to pruning/removal as it has grown too large and is blocking light to the dwelling?”

Reply:

This tree has been inspected and is included on our pruning programme for the current season. The tree outside no 18 will be removed as it has become unsafe.

DLE/71/11 Cleaning and Sweeping of Roadway

Question: Councillor D. O’Callaghan

“To ask the Manager to arrange for the cleaning and sweeping of a section of roadway from the tennis club on Quinns Road leading to the beach and that this section of road be put on a regular mechanical sweeping programme?”

Reply: This section of Quinns Road has been added to the worklist and will be swept shortly. The problem in this area is not with litter, but muck on the road. As there are no kerbs along the road, muck will always appear on the road from meeting vehicles driving on the verge or the rain washing this muck onto the road. This section of road is not on the road sweeping schedule, as the road sweeper is unable to sweep the road with the low bridge and low trees. This section of road is swept intermittently by a mini sweeper and will be continued to be cleaned by the mini sweeper in the future.

DLE/72/11 Cleaning of Laneway

Question: Councillor C. Smyth

“To ask the Manager to cut back the shrubs and clear the leaves and rubbish from the laneway between Oakton Park and Wyattville Dual Carriag
