DUN LAOGHAIRE RATHDOWN COUNTY COUNCIL Minutes of the Dún Laoghaire Environment, Culture & Community, Water & Waste Services and Housing held in the County Hall, Marine Road, Dun Laoghaire on Monday, 28 February 2011 at 5.00 pm PRESENT Councillors: Councillors: Ward, Barry Bailey, Maria Smyth, Carrie Baker, Marie Devlin, Cormac Bhreathnach, Niamh O'Callaghan, Denis Fitzpatrick, Stephen Marren, Donal Boyhan, Victor Councillor Niamh Bhreathnach presided as Chairperson Apologies were received from Councillor Lewis, Hugh and Dillon Byrne, Jane OFFICIALS PRESENT Tim Carey (Heritage Officer), Noel Dodd (Housing Maintenance Manager), John Guckian (Senior Executive Officer Environment, Culture & Community), Ann Hegarty (Senior Executive Officer Housing), Bernadette King (Clerical Officer Environment, Culture & Community), Michael Mangan (Senior Engineer Projects Water & Waste Services), Les Moore (Senior Parks Superintendent) and Mary Ruane (Senior Executive Officer) DLE/57/11 Confirmation and Adoption of Minutes Minutes of Meeting of Dún Laoghaire Area Committee (EC&C, H & W&W) held on 24 th January 2011 were CONFIRMED and ADOPTED ENVIRONMENT, CULTURE AND COMMUNITY BUSINESS DLE/58/11 QUESTIONS It was PROPOSED by Councillor M. Baker and SECONDED by Councillor S. Fitzpatrick and RESOLVED :- That pursuant to Standing Order No. 105, question numbers 2 to 20 inclusive be ADOPTED and APPROVED DLE/59/11 Patrician Villas Community Centre Question: Councillor V. Boyhan “To ask the Manager to provide a brief report on the Patrician Villas Community Centre building and to meet with Local Ward Councillors with a view to reopening this facility for Community use?” Reply: In August 2003 a Management Licence Agreement was granted to Stillorgan Pigeon Club. The building is open and Pigeon Club continues to operate from there. The Community Section has had numerous meetings with the Patrician Villas Community Development Group in relation to their usage of the building. An agreement for usage and a draft constitution was sent to the group, followed up and the Community Section awaits a response. The Community Section is available to meet Councillors or Community Groups. DLE/60/11 Plans for Martello Tower at Seapoint Question: Councillor V. Boyhan “To ask the Manager to confirm what is planned for the Martello Tower at Seapoint?” Reply: The Martello Tower at Seapoint is currently being restored with a view to having the Tower open as part of the Council's Summer of Heritage Programme in 2011. A major exhibition on the History of the Martello Towers of Dublin will also run during the summer and will be on display in the concourse of County Hall. In 2012 this exhibition will be modified for incorporation into the Seapoint Tower to form part of future visitor experiences. DLE/61/11 Proposed Cultural Events Question: Councillor V.
