GRANT MORRISON, CHRIS BURNHAM : Batman Incorporated Vol. 1: Demon Star (The New 52) before purchasing it in order to gage whether or not it would be worth my time, and all praised Batman Incorporated Vol. 1: Demon Star (The New 52):

The Penultimate Chapter to Grant Morrison's Batman Opus!By wildweasel77This hardcover collection is the penultimate book of Grant Morrison's seven year Batman run from 2006 till 2013.While, agreeably, it may be difficult for new readers to get into, this collection is part of the bigger whole of Morrison's entire Batman run, and contains a great payoff to long-time Batman readers.Morrison once said that 'It all makes sense in the end', and this is rightly so.The chapters in this collection pays homage to several (albeit still significant) events in the Batman mythos. Though it clarifies that the events collected herein occurred before 'The NEW 52' DCU reboot, it blends well with the themes and direction of The New 52.Here we see Damian (Al Ghul) Wayne, the New Robin and Bruce Wayne's (Batman's) biological son from , is being targeted by a wide variety of assassins as her deranged mother has placed a considerable bounty on his head. Batman, being the strict and stoic father that he is, places Damian under close watch. But with Damian being the perseverant Wayne that he is, readers know that things will always spiral out of control. And as revelations after revelations are unravelled, readers are shown why Batman is giving Damian the 'cold treatment' because of a dark future that may or may not happen because of his actions. Also, a single chapter ('The Eye of the Gorgon') reveals Talia's twisted past, and what her underlying motivations are. Add the ensemble of International Batmen that The Dark Knight has assembled to counter the evils of 'Leviathan' and this book knocks the ball out of the park. With amazing art and gripping story, this collection is definitely worth it!Can't wait for the conclusion of this epic (Batman Incorporated Vol. 2: Gotham's Most Wanted (The New 52))Recommendation: Buy!1 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Good but ComplexBy Bobby SprinklesThis book feels like a single chapter of a bigger more complex story that Grant Morrison has painstakingly calculated. Batman Inc., Batman Inc. Vol. 1, and Batman Inc. Vol. 2 are all just small pieces to Morrison's mind bending Batman run. Batman Inc. was before the New 52 reboot so when the reboot happened, the story-line continued with the new re-issued book numbers. That's why the second volume is actually referred to as "volume 1", but it's actually second volume of three. Weird, I know. The story is good. I like the dynamics between Bruce Wayne and his son Damian as the new Robin. (You can read up on Damian's backstory in Batman and Son, also good. And if you really want to go deep, you can read Birth of the Demon by Mike Barr). As far as the Batman Inc., stories go, the time line is a bit weird with these books. All you need to know is that Batman Inc. and Batman Inc. Vol. 1 happen before Scott Snyder's Batman Vol. 1 Court of Owls. And Batman Inc. Vol. 2 happens right after Scott Snyder's Batman Vol. 3: Death Of the Family. Got that? Good luck!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Grant Morrison is amazing, as is his entire Batman runBy jojomoNot for the uninitiated. Grant Morrison is amazing, as is his entire Batman run, but don't expect to understand and comprehend everything on the first read through, particularly if you are unfamiliar with his previous Batman work. But if you are ready for this volume you won't be disappointed.

Eisner Award-winning fan-favorite writer Grant Morrison concludes the Batman epic he began nearly a decade ago in BATMAN SON, pitting the entirity of Batman Incorporated against the Levianthan organization headed by the Dark Knight's former romantic interest Talia al Ghul. As Leviathan enacts a plan that threatens the world, Batman and his allies must fight against the rising storm--but not everyone will make it out of the encounter alive.Collects BATMAN INCORPORATED #0-6
