Join John Leavengood, insect taxonomist and evolutionary biologist, to learn how things like the monsters from the “Alien" movie series, Starship Troopers, Spider-Man, The Tick, Ant-Man and giant monstrous insects compare to actual insects and their almost supernatural abilities, weird appearances and strange behavior. Wizard World is proud to announce the Wizard World Film Festival, now accepting submissions for its final three events of 2013, beginning with the Wizard World Ohio Comic Con, Sept. 20-22. Film festival organizers and independent film director Roze (Speak No Evil) will highlight how to submit to film festivals, the nitty gritty of indie film production and sneak previews of films to be featured on future stops of the Wizard World Film Festival tour. 2:00 – 2:45PM THE MAKING OF II: THE WRATH OF KHAN Celebrate the amazing actresses, actors, and behind the scene artists who worked on Nicholas Meyer’s Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan with this multimedia presentation by College of Lake County sociology professors John and Maria Jose Tenuto. More than 120 rare, and many never-before-seen, newly discovered photographs paint the incredible picture of a company of actors and artists whose talents combined to create one of Star Trek’s best films. in addition to the photographs, the presentation will share trivia and little known facts about the making of TWOK based on six years of research. A special thank you to writer/director Nicholas Meyer for his permission to share these photographs and the University of Iowa Library. (ROOM 41)

The UcreateComics, Pitch-Vote-Create web platform, where aspiring Artists and Writers present their concepts to comic book fans for voting. Before he was a film critic, the recently-deceased Roger Ebert was a comics fan who wrote an in-depth article about Stan Lee and Marvel in a 1966 issue of the Sun-Time’ Midwest magazine. Known also as a prolific contributor to science-fiction magazines and an active member of sci-fi fandom, Ebert, was of course, a Chicago local hero. He wrote insightful reviews of superhero movies, but excited controversy when he said that videogames could not be art. Moderator Danny Fingeroth has assembled an outstanding panel of

12 Wizard World Comic Con Chicago 2013 Programming August 8th – August 11th, 2013 Neal Adams is an American comic book and commercial artist known for helping to create some of the definitive modern imagery of the DC Comics characters Superman, Batman, and Green Arrow; as the co- founder of the graphic design studio Continuity Associates; and as a creators-rights advocate who helped secure a pension and recognition for Superman creators Jerry Siegl and Joe Shuster. Adams was inducted into the Eisner Award’s Comic Book Hall of Fame in 1998, and the Harvey Awards’ Hall of Fame in 1999.

Writer Chris Claremont has encountered more success than most writers ever dream of. His stories have achieved best-seller status, won numerous awards, and are trend-setters for the industry. Although best known for his work on Marvel Comic’s X-Men series, where he created the characters for Rouge, Gambit, Sabertooth, Kitty Pryde and the White Queen, amongst others, he has also written seminal characters such as Batman and Superman; originated several creator-owned series; is published throughout the world in many different languages; authored nine novels. His papers are collected at the Rare Book and Manuscript Library of Columbia University, in New York. His work has touched millions.
