In this event targeting foreign visitors to Tokyo, the outstanding allure of Nara will be highlighted via topics such as “Nature and Belief”, “Unchanged Scenes From Ancient Times” and “Old and Traditional Techniques”. Videos showing the natural beauty of Nara, unchanged scenery from the past and the daily lives of people in Nara will be screened, along with the display of traditional arts and crafts to convey the charm of Nara. 150 people who take part in the questionnaire will receive a pair of disposable chopsticks made from Yoshino cedar from Nara Prefecture.     Washi Making Process 1. Raw Materials of Washi The typical raw materials are kozo, mitsumata, gampi and hemp. Paper /Parchment can be made from any plant which has fi ber, but these four plants are the best. The idea of using these four raw materials is from the wisdom born in the 1500-year old Japanese parchment, washi, history. 2. Peeling the Bark Kozo is harvested in winter, and the cut ends of Kozo are steamed over boiling water. Then, after cooling the steamed kozo with water, the bark is peeled off and dried. The bark at this stage is rough and called Kurokawa or Black Bark. Machine paper is made of the woody fi ber, the inner part of the plants, while washi is made of the fi ber of the bark. © 2007 Precious Pieces 3. Soaking the Black Bark in Water The black bark is soaked in water for one day. Then the black outer bark and joints will be removed. The remaining inner bark is dried in the sun. Now this bark is called white bark. The white bark is soaked in water again for fi ve or six hours and rinsed in clean cold water. I examine four poet- painters associated with the Japanese literati tradition in the Edo (1603-1867) and Meiji (1867- 1912) periods: Yosa Buson (1716-83), Ema Saikō (1787-1861), Masaoka Shiki (1867-1902) and Natsume Sōseki (1867-1916). Each artist fashions a lyric subjectivity constituted by the kinds of blending found in literati painting and poetry. I argue that each artist’s thoughts and feelings emerge in the tensions generated in the process of blending forms, genres, and the ideas (aesthetic, philosophical, social, cultural, and historical) that they carry with them.

Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. (President: Takehiro Honjo) will launch a service to purchase surplus electricity generated by photovoltaic systems. The service is available for customers whose purchase period (10 years) will end under the renewable energy feed-in-tariff (FIT) system. Because the FIT purchase period is ten years, customers whose FIT purchase period expires will be able to choose purchasers freely*1 from November 2019. Osaka Gas will offer the Purchase Plan for electricity, which is available for any customer, and the Electricity Set Purchase Plan, which offers an advantage to customers who use Osaka Gas’s electricity. Osaka Gas will also offer the Style Plan E option, in which the purchase unit price increases further in combination with Style Plan E,*2 an environmentally friendly electricity plan. Osaka Gas has been promoting the spread of ENE-FARM, photovoltaic power generation systems, storage batteries, and other solutions to help achieve a low carbon society. Among them, there are 8 prefectures with “inland prefecture” that isn’t facing the sea. These inland prefectures are considered to have different properties from “coastal prefecture” that is facing the sea. Therefore, in this study, we quantitatively analyze the influence of the following factors on value of manufactured goods shipments of “inland prefecture” and “coastal prefecture”, based on our previous studies. These factors are population, area, value of forestry goods shipments, value of fishery goods shipments, presence of ordinance designated city, before and after the collapse of the bubble, before and after the Lehman shock, and so on. This analysis model is characterized by handling time series quantitative data and qualitative data. In this study, we validate the model by conducting empirical analysis model using time series data. Furthermore, we will try to quantitatively grasp the common points and differences of the industrial structure between inland prefecture and coastal prefecture based on estimates of parameters obtained from such empirical analysis.

Thence, in feudal days, armed retainers kept keen watch on all who passed by—invisible watch, for the bars are set so closely that a face behind them cannot be seen from the roadway.
