Gate No. 1 Pilkhana, Dhaka-1205 ISBN : 978-984-33-6452-4 ii Foreword Safety and Rights Society (SRS) has been conducting a yearly survey on workplace deaths since its establishment in 2009, taking over the work that had been carried out by the Bangladesh chapter of the Center for Corporate Accountability. The present report has included information on workplace deaths (as well as injuries that took place in the same incident that resulted in the deaths) throughout 2013 by monitoring 26 newspapers (15 national and 11 regional) some of which has been double checked through onsite investigations. The report includes information only on deaths as a result of workplace activities and does not include details of workers who die from other means (through political protest or house fires etc). I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Diakonia - a development partner of SRS - which has been supporting and guiding the organization since 2012 in carrying out our work workplace health and safety in Bangladesh, which includes this publication.
