RESEARCH

SUMMARY I have published more than 80 refereed journal and conference papers in the areas of 3G/4G mobile communication systems, wireless ad hoc and sensor networks, and wireless mesh networks. I am on the editorial boards of 5 international journals, including IEEE Communications Magazine. I am currently leading 5 research projects at WiCO with a total budget over RMB 95M (~USD 14M). My recent research activities have been generously sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST, China), Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT, China), National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality (STCSM), Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC, UK), Technology Strategy Board (TSB, UK), Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS, UK), The Royal Society, Royal Academy of Engineering, EU/FP7, British Telecom, Vodafone, SELEX Galileo, Toshiba, Airbus and Rolls-Royce. Together with these industrial partners, we are pioneering the research and development of applying wireless sensor network technologies for different challenging applications, such as dynamic flow control for active aircraft (with Airbus), battlefield surveillance and monitoring (with SELEX Galileo), and gas turbine engine testing (with Royce-Rolls and SELEX Galileo).
