An Act authorizing the city of boston to convey THE DORCHESTER HEIGHTS MONUMENT AND ADJOINING LAND IN THE CITY Of BOSTON TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA FOR PRESERVATION AND MAINTENANCE AS A NATIONAL SHRINE. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre- sentatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as folloivs:

1 The city of Boston is hereby authorized to convey, 2 without monetary consideration, to the United States 3 of America the Dorchester Heights monument, to- -4 gether with all the land included within Dorchester 5 Heights or Telegraph Hill, so called, in the South Bos- -6 ton district of said city, comprising approximately 7 two hundred and thirty-six thousand three hundred 8 and fifty-four square feet, and bounded southerly, 9 westerly and northerly by Thomas park and easterly 10 by land of said city now occupied by the South Boston 11 high school and as shown on plate sixteen of the atlas 12 of South Boston published by G. 13 in the year nineteen hundred and ten, on condition 14 that the United States of America shall preserve and 15 maintain the said monument and said land as a 16 national shrine, under authority of an act of congress 17 known as public-number two hundred and ninety-two, 18 seventy-fourth congress, approved August twenty- -19 first, nineteen hundred and thirty-five, in commemo- -20 ration of the evacuation of Boston by the British 21 forces on March seventeenth, seventeen hundred and 22 seventy-six.
