Kieran Kane and Come To Tompkins Corners - Saturday, July 28th, 7:30 pm

On Saturday, July 28th at 7:30 pm, Tompkins Corners Cultural Center will present and Rayna Gellert in concert.

Kieran and Rayna first met, fittingly, at San Francisco's celebrated Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, which led to their co-writing songs for Kieran's , Unguarded Moments (Dead Reckoning). Fans of either artist will recognize the musical kindred-spiritedness in their restrained and roots-oriented approach to both songs and arrangements.

A successful solo artist, collaborator, and songwriter (with songs recorded by Alan Jackson, John Prine, Emmylou Harris, and many more), Kieran Kane is a musician's musician: his playing is always understated, always groove- oriented and always serving the song.

Growing up in a musical family, Rayna Gellert turned to Appalachian old-time music at a young age, becoming a prodigious fiddler and leading a new revival of American string band music. Rayna was with the band , a powerful women’s string band that hatched several careers. She has toured and recorded with artists such as Scott Miller, , Toubab Krewe and Robyn Hitchcock.

Kane and Gellert performed together on March 30, 2018 at the Grand Ole Opry. They engage in a rich collaboration, blending respective songwriting with instrumental and vocal skills forging a bona fide "third voice." Both Rayna & Kieran have well-established individual identities, and their joining voices is a new musical adventure ranging from Nashville to folk, from singer/songwriter to old-time music.

Traveling from south to north this summer, just prior to Rayna teaching at the Southern Week and Dance Camp at Jay Ungar and Molly Mason's Ashokan Center, we welcome Kieran and Rayna to Tompkins Corners, bringing tradition, the arts and community together.

Tickets are $15 and are available at https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3532366 or call 845 528-7280 to reserve seats. For more information email [email protected].
