Without these documents, the best investigative reporting in the world could not have produced a book, and the secrets of CIA mind-control work would have remained buried forever, as the men who knew them had always intended. From the documentary base, I was able to expand my knowledge through interviews and readings in the behavioral sciences. Neverthe- less, the final result is not the whole story of the CIA's attack on the mind. Only a few insiders could have written that, and they choose to remain silent. I have done the best I can to make the book as accurate as possible, but I have been hampered by the refusal of most of the principal characters to be interviewed and by the CIA's destruction in 1973 of many of the key docu- ments.

  • To What Extent Has Digital Art Changed the Comic Book Industry? Jack Taylor
To What Extent Has Digital Art Changed the Comic Book Industry? Jack Taylor Over time, artists have used a wide variety of techniques and styles to create comic books, they convey and explore the narrative they are illustrating. Traditional Art refers to artwork created using conventional resources and materials. This could include the use of paints, inks or coloured markers which can be found in Killing Girl (Image Comics, Toby Cypress, 2009). This style of comic book making strongly contrasts the style of Digital Art which allows the artist more freedom to create their work. Digital Art directly refers to artwork created using technology such as a tablet or computer, this style of digital art can be found in Justice League (DC Comics, Jorge Jimenez, 2018). Comic books were originally designed by the Japanese during the 18th century in the form of woodblock prints that were aimed at less-literate readers due to the illustrated narrative. These books focused on shorter narratives based around Japanese folk law and historical accounts, the books were created in the Kibyōshi genre which is well known for its influences on modern manga. The creator of the Kibyōshi genre was Koikawa Harumachi who developed ideas about Japanese picture books into a format aimed at everyone rather than just less-literate readers. Harumachi’s thoughts on illustrated narrative became “Master Flashgold's Splendiferous Dream” (Harumachi, 1775) which is regarded as one of the first true comic books. Despite creating this new art form, Harumachi received negative attention from the authorities and later died in 1789 to illness however many believe that Harumachi was ordered to commit suicide.

  • Prodigal Genius BIOGRAPHY of NIKOLA TESLA 1994 Brotherhood of Life, Inc., 110 Dartmouth, SE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87106 USA
Prodigal Genius BIOGRAPHY OF NIKOLA TESLA 1994 Brotherhood of Life, Inc., 110 Dartmouth, SE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87106 USA "SPECTACULAR" is a mild word for describing the strange experiment with life that comprises the story of Nikola Tesla, and "amazing" fails to do adequate justice to the results that burst from his experiences like an exploding rocket. It is the story of the dazzling scintillations of a superman who created a new world; it is a story that condemns woman as an anchor of the flesh which retards the development of man and limits his accomplishment--and, paradoxically, proves that even the most successful life, if it does not include a woman, is a dismal failure. Even the gods of old, in the wildest imaginings of their worshipers, never undertook such gigantic tasks of world- wide dimension as those which Tesla attempted and accomplished. On the basis of his hopes, his dreams, and his achievements he rated the status of the Olympian gods, and the Greeks would have so enshrined him. Little is the wonder that so-called practical men, with their noses stuck in profit-and-loss statements, did not understand him and thought him strange. The light of human progress is not a dim glow that gradually becomes more luminous with time. The panorama of human evolution is illumined by sudden bursts of dazzling brilliance in intellectual accomplishments that throw their beams far ahead to give us a glimpse of the distant future, that we may more correctly guide our wavering steps today. Tesla, by virtue of the amazing discoveries and inventions which he showered on the world, becomes one of the most resplendent flashes that has ever brightened the scroll of human advancement.

  • News and Notes From
News and Notes From The PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY JANUARY 1974 Vol. II, No. 1 VOLUME II With this, the January issue of News and Notes, we begin our second year of publication. When the first issue appeared last March we were uncertain as to whether a second one would see the light of day. However an enthusiastic response from our readers brought encouragement for further effort. Although the production of News and Notes has been largely a singular effort, your editor desires to take note of efforts put forth by individual members. Regular contributions by Paul Lanham and Ted Bissell have added greatly to the general scope of this publication. In addition, the general knowledge and contacts of Susanna Cristofane, Orva Heissenbuttel, John Brennan, James Shreve and James Wilfong have provided information on current happenings on the local scene. These and many others have, hopefully, made News and Notes more interesting for our readers. Also, we are indebted to our Corresponding Secretary, Edith Bagot. The added burden of circularizing the membership 12 times per year, instead of the usual eight times, has been cheerfully accepted. We are indeed thankful. In our effort to build a staff to produce News and Notes in the future, we have asked for volunteers. We are pleased to announce that Mrs. Leslie (Betty) Tichnor of District Heights will be contributing to the publication on a regular basis in the future. We hope that others will join us to help improve the quality and scope of our efforts. As always, we solicit the contributions and comments of all of our readers.
