The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) is a private, not-for-profit sales and marketing organization. POSITION SUMMARY

POSITION TITLE: President & CEO DEPARTMENT: Executive REPORTS TO: Chairman, Executive Committee and Board of Directors

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Has overall responsibility for all operations of the Bureau. Guides the formulation of and gives leadership to the achievement of the Bureau’s mission, Board strategies, policies, objectives, and goals. With the Chairperson and the Executive Committee, enable the Board of Directors to fulfill its governance function, and facilitate the optimum interaction between management and the Board of Directors. Work is primarily fast paced, with variable tasks and is performed in both formal and informal environments.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

1. Responsible to and reports to the Chairman, Executive Committee, and Board of Directors. 2. With the Chair of the Board, develops agendas for meetings, so that the Board and Executive Committee can fulfill their responsibilities effectively. Develops and annual calendar to cover all crucial issues in a timely fashion. 3. Sees that the Chairperson, Executive Committee, and the Board of Directors are kept informed on the condition, productivity, and performance of the Bureau and on all other important factors affecting it. 4. Gets the best thinking and involvement of each Board member. Stimulate each one to give his or her best. 5. Works with the Chairperson and Chairs of Standing Committees to make the committee structure of the Board function effectively. 6. With the Nominating Committee and Chairperson recommends the composition of the Executive Committee and the Board. 7. Works with the Chairperson and the Chairs of Standing Committees to appoint their members.

8. Develops, for approval by the Chairman, Executive Committee and Board of Directors, a long-range strategy that achieves the mission. 9. Develops, for approval by the Chairperson, Executive Committee and Board of Directors, a mission statement, an annual program of work, an annual budget, and as appropriate, board policies. 10. Responsible for the Bureau’s consistent achievement of its mission, Board policies, annual program of work, financial objectives, fiscal responsibilities, and controls. 11. Ensures that the contractual obligation of the Bureau under its interlocal agreements are fully complied with. 12. Makes certain that the Bureau’s mission statement is implemented throughout the organization. 13. Makes certain that the flow of funds permits the Bureau to make steady progress towards the achievement of its mission and that those funds are allocated properly to reflect present needs and future potential. 14. Maintains an active personal involvement (including the Bureau’s Executive staff) in state, national and international convention, and visitor industry associations. 15. Assures that the principles of equal opportunity are encourage and applied throughout the Bureau’s operations. 16. Sees that there is an effective professional management team with provisions for succession planning of staff members. 17. Ensures the development and implementation of personnel training, development plans and programs that will provide the human resources necessary for the achievement of the Bureau’s mission. 18. Maintains a climate within the Bureau that attracts, keeps and motivates top quality professionals and volunteers. 19. Serves as the chief spokesperson for the Bureau (delegating when appropriate); thereby see that the Bureau is properly presented to its various publics. 20. Performs such other duties as directed by the Chair, Executive Committee and Board of Directors or as necessary to insure the safe, efficient and ethical operation of the Bureau. 21. Frequent travel required. Approximately 60 percent of the time. 22. Responsible for a budget of approximately 30 million dollars. 23. External Interaction: Interacts with local, national and international elected officials and with leaders from organizations such as Visit Florida, Inc, Greater Miami & The Beaches Association, the Beacon Council, the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, CAMACOL, the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce, the Coalition of Miami-Dade Chambers of Commerce, etc. 24. Internal Interaction: Interacts with all levels of staff up to the Board of Directors.

IDEAL BACKGROUND

• Travel, , hospitality experience preferred but not mandatory. • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Business, Hotel/Hospitality Management, Marketing or related field, or equivalent work experience. • Sitting CEO, President, COO, General Manager of a similar size or larger organization in the for-profit or not-for- profit sectors. • Demonstrated expertise working with elected officials from multiple jurisdictions to accomplish business objectives. • Demonstrated experience in program management, budgeting, strategic business planning, expenditure control and fundraising. • Aggressive in pursuing new business opportuni�es, especially in Fintech and other emerging markets. • An aspira�onal leader with the ability to inspire the team, board, and community to think differently and strategically. • Volunteer or direct experience with Boards of not-for-profit membership organizations that utilize public funds. • A demonstrated track record of success that can be tracked to the individual's efforts and leadership is vital. • A flexible, responsive, and politically astute leader, comfortable with capably managing multiple programs. • A leader with outstanding communication skills who is also a very persuasive public speaker.
