Dec 28, Grep rated it did not like it. This wasn't even YA tier. It's clunky, it's immature and every situation The Forever Man character encounters is either cookie cutter or just completely unbelievable. It's not good and I The Forever Man believe The Forever Man author won any awards he didn't pay for. Jul 02, Joan rated it did not like it Shelves: abandonedclunkyalpha-malesdisturbing-in-a-bad-wayhorrid-heroclichedgrossdnfnot-one-to-re-readwtf. This simply did not work for me. The main character is one of those 'US marine heroes' who has everything at his fingertips and proceeds to show everyone else The Forever Man how fandabbbydozy he is at solving all their problems. Well, thank you author, but This The Forever Man did not work for me. Well, thank you author, but I found that rather offensive. SAS anyone? Special Boat Service anyone?? There was also a subplot involving someone called Commander Ammon, Fairfolk, battle orcs, goblins, constructs and trolls, the inclusion of an Oirish deliberate spelling priest who spouts stuff like: 'I be Father Phelim O'Hara. I tort The Forever Man you wus one of does devil worshippin' bastards. Dat's why I tru a bottle at yez. Still, I won't mention it ta any and I be sure dat you won't neider. So den tell me, where are does Satan worshipping pig feckers? I tink dat I'll sit up for a while. Dey has got a lovely lot of wines and whiskeys in da cellar dat I was incarcerated in and I shall partake and sit wid youse. Oct 30, Roo MacLeod rated it really The Forever Man it. Just so you know. And this is part 1 of many. Saying that it is a damn good read. The world as we know it has suffered a cataclysmic event, an emp type thing that wipes out anything electrical. Sort of like what a nuclear explosion would do. Nothing works. Human kind has been reduced to the dark ages and very few are coping. Step forward the Forever Man, an american marine, orc big and good through and through. Meanwhile in galaxy far far away, a dying civilization is being wiped out by elves and decides to The Forever Man on earth. See, I am right. It is fantasy meets apocalyptic and good fun. I hoped the plot would be interesting enough to make up for the The Forever Man gun humping and bombastic "perfection" of the main character. I was extremely happy and willing to move forward with the story when said character died. The Forever Man, he resumed living, and resumed being an insufferable dickwad. All other characters The Forever Man apparently idiots who just need to either shut up and listen to the ever perfect master gunnery Sargent, be killed or be raped. The narration is barely better, with num I hoped the plot would be interesting enough to make up for the insufferable gun humping and bombastic "perfection" of The Forever Man main character. The narration is barely better, with numerous mispronounciations and flat delivery. Didn't finish, will be returning for credit. Dec 31, Tony Hinde rated it really liked it. I've found a gem here. It reminds me of Stirling's Emberverse but with less technical detail about surviving in a post-tech world. Marine Sergeant Nathaniel Hogan is an interesting character who is more than capable of supporting a story. We also get a diverse supporting cast, many of whom are almost as interesting. With a sprinkle of fantasy, magic, fae, etcand Zerf has created something truly worth-while. The Forever Man 09, Penn Davies rated it did not like it. This The Forever Man pass for a parody If I was going to write a parody of white male survivalist empowerment fantasy it would look just like this. Clearly there is an audience for it as it hits every note you could want: male American marine with superpowers and also never wrong and destined to save the world and girls 18! She makes a point of it! Either this is for you or it is not. I found it childish and The Forever Man in so, so many ways. Your mileage may vary. View 2 comments. Pulse (Forever Man, book 1) by Craig Zerf The game featured an uncommonly dark premise for the The Forever Man of its release, The Forever Man saw the home console market flooded with licensed platformers based on family-friendly media. It is based upon a comic book of same name by Robert A. Kraus and was produced by Ed Annunziatawho met Chakan's creator at a convention and was impressed. In addition to composing, The Forever Man is also composer Mark Miller's only work as a gameplay and level designer. The player, as Chakan, starts in a central hub stage, from which he can select one of four elemental -based "planes" of EarthAirFireand Watereach with three levels. The player advances through each platforming level until completion or death, whereupon Chakan is returned to the hub to choose a new level on either the same or a different plane. The player has infinite lives, but will be returned to the hub if he is "killed". At the bottom of the screen, an The Forever Man indicates how much time the player has to complete all the levels The Forever Man the plane. If time runs out, the player is returned to the hub and must restart the plane from its first level. Chakan starts out with his characteristic twin swords, but acquires a new weapon in the first stage of each element, such as the Grappling Hook which allows him to latch on to hooks and climb, and the Hammer which can break through certain walls. Chakan can also collect potions in each of the four elements, which he can combine and use to grant himself temporary powers such as enhancing his swords with elemental powers or increasing his The Forever Man height. Upon defeating the three levels and the enemy bosses for each plane, Chakan clears the "terrestrial plane" and embarks upon a quest to defeat four "elemental planes of evil," each consisting of another three levels and a boss each for fire, earth, wind The Forever Man water. These levels are considerably harder than the initial four sets of planes. The game follows The Forever Man tale of Chakan, a warrior who is so confident in his swordsmanship that The Forever Man declares even Death cannot best him in battle. Death appears and challenges Chakan: if Chakan can defeat him, he will be granted eternal life. However, if Death wins, he will become Death's eternal servant. The battle rages on for several days until Chakan emerges as the victor. Death grants him his reward, but additionally condemns him to wander all of existence until all supernatural evil is destroyed. After he has slain the supernatural evils of Earth, Chakan is shown stabbing himself with his sword in anticipation of his promised death.
