ITINERARY

DAY 1 SWITZERLAND Arrival at a Swiss airport and transfer by rail to Montreux. Afternoon at leisure. Enjoy this famous lakeside town on the shores of Lake . Accommodation: Montreux/Vevey for 1 night

DAY 2 MONTREUX/VEVEY – GRUYÈRES / CHARMEY From Montreux cycle to neighboring Vevey to take the rack railway up to Mont-Pèlerin thus avoiding a steep ascent. Tranquil roads lead from here to the region that produces the famous Gruyère cheese. (B)

DAY 3 CHARMEY – GSTAAD (40 KM) Your ride through Saanenland will be accompanied by the sound of cowbells, as the area is dominated by the milk and cheese trade. Narrow roads lead through an authentic and typical Swiss region with fantastic views towards the high peaks of the Alps. (B) Accommodation: Gstaad / Saanen for 1 night

DAY 4 GSTAAD – LAKE THUN (40 - 50 KM) You will always have the option of taking the train today as the famous Golden Pass train line more or less follows the same route. Riding through the Simmental with its artfully decorated wooden houses will leave you with impressions of a picture postcard region. Take the boat from Spiez to . (B) Accommodation: Interlaken for 2 nights

DAY 5 LAKE THUN – AT LEISURE Some leisure time to explore this picturesque region. Enjoy a leisurely cruise on the lake, visit famous peaks such as the Jungfraujoch or Schilthorn or chose one of the many signposted hiking rails the region is so famous for. (B)

DAY 6 LAKE THUN – LAKE (55 KM) From here follow the southern shores of Lake Brienz. There are some steep climbs en route. If time allows enjoy a stop in Meiringen famous for its Sherlock Holmes Museum, the Reichenbach falls and its meringue. From here take the train to avoid the steepest climb over the Brünig pass. (B) Accommodation: in for 1 night

DAY 7 (35 KM) Follow the shores of Lake Sarnen towards Mount , Lucerne’s house mountain. At its foot you will have reached the shores of and can cycle along its shore, bay after bay, towards Lucerne. (B) Accommodation: Lucerne for 2 nights

DAY 8 LUCERNE Mountain excursions, lake cruises, city tours, museum visits – there is a multitude of activities available in this popular lakeside resort. (B)

DAY 9 LUCERNE Rail transfer to airport and return journey home. (B)
