The story of the transmission of the Halvetiye Sufi order from geographical and political margins to the imperial center in both ideological and physical sense underlines Amasya’s contribution to the making of the socio-religious scene of the Ottoman capital at its formative stages. The city exerted its agency as it urbanized, “Ottomanized” and catapulted marginalized Halvetiye Sufi order to Istanbul where the Ottoman socio-religious fabric was in the making.     Amasya Maid of the Mountains Filiz Özdem (İstanbul, 1965) After graduating from the Italian High School she studied philosophy at Istanbul University and went on to take a master’s degree in the same department. Her translations, poems, articles and essays on art have been published in a number of magazines and newspapers, and her essays have been included in several anthologies. She translated the works of Pier Paolo Pasolini, Luigi Malerba, Carlo Collodi, Edmondo de Amicis, Italo Calvino, Gianni Rodari and Lucia Tumiati. She has written numerous catalogue texts for exhibitions at Maltepe Art Gallery, Milli Reasürans Art Gallery, Sevimce Art Gallery and Artisan Art Gallery. This study aims to analyse Amasya city centre as a potential tourist friend destination. Hence, a questionnaire survey was developed consisting of some questions that inquire about the tourist friendly destination concept. The data collected from the questionnaires were statistically analysed. The findings yielded several strategies in order to improve tourist friendly tourism.
