The auction will be held in Spink's auction room, 69 Southampton Row, London WC1B 4ET at 1.15 p.m. Lots will be on view from 11.00 a.m. Bids are only accepted from Paid-Up MSG members. Postal bids should be made on the enclosed form and sent to the Auctioneer by Tuesday 1st. March. A complete address with post or zip code must be given. P.O. boxes cannot be accepted. In the event of equal bids, the first received will prevail so please bid early.

Reserve prices are shown. Bids under reserve will be ignored. All bids are accepted on the understanding that lots will be paid for within seven (7) days of receipt, or returned in that time if not in accordance with the catalogue description. Mint means normally hinged. Where lots have been left on pages that is for ease of presentation, and the write- up is not part of the description of the lot.

Addressed in Chinese.

263 Singapore 1953. FPO 965 on ‘Forces Airmail, 2 ½d rate envelope. On the £100 reverse a label ‘It is regretted that this letter has been delayed abroad’ with Home Postal Depot R.E. 17 No 53, cds. This is one of the covers which were delayed at FPO 965 by a Sergeant in the Royal Engineers, who was Court Martialled for the delay. Cover is creased at top, (from being under the floor?) and the label hangs a little off the lower edge, but rare!

Evidently at APAL they had forgotten to change the month in the date stamp.

304 1930 25 Jan Registered envelope to Canada franked 1c + 20c (perf faults) £75 tied fair Brickfields Rd, Proud D2 state 1, with straight RECOMMANDE mark, marked NOT CALLED FOR and on reverse has D.L.O. Ottawa plus good small double ring K.L. D.L.O. Proud D3 (5 Jy 1930) on face a light strike of framed oblong “D.L.O. K. LUMPUR / CONTAINS....” in violet which is not recorded in Proud. Tear at top, slightly creased + soiled but overall not bad.

All slightly tired or soiled except last which has corner defect + soiling, but a scarce trio.

461 ‘Johore Bahru F.M.S.R. Connection Steam Ships’ photo card by Hamaguchi, £40 shows passengers filing down gangway to board steam boat (different vessel to goods ferry). Few tiny faults but good unused. A very scarce card but printed in blue so dark it obscures some detail.

462 ‘Looking down the Strait of Johore’ B+W RPT, looks 1930s reprint of £12 earlier card, a general view most probably away from the crossing point. 463 ‘The Railway Station Johore’: B+W view but of Jetty and freight ferry (not £40 the Station) with steam pontoon ferry in attendance, Togo No. 158, to UK with 3c tied 1911cancel and Singapore transit. A scarce card in fine used condition.
