Malaya Study Group Auction Saturday 5th March 2016 The auction will be held in Spink's auction room, 69 Southampton Row, London WC1B 4ET at 1.15 p.m. Lots will be on view from 11.00 a.m. Bids are only accepted from Paid-Up MSG members. Postal bids should be made on the enclosed form and sent to the Auctioneer by Tuesday 1st. March. A complete address with post or zip code must be given. P.O. boxes cannot be accepted. In the event of equal bids, the first received will prevail so please bid early. Reserve prices are shown. Bids under reserve will be ignored. All bids are accepted on the understanding that lots will be paid for within seven (7) days of receipt, or returned in that time if not in accordance with the catalogue description. Mint means normally hinged. Where lots have been left on pages that is for ease of presentation, and the write- up is not part of the description of the lot. Cheques or bank drafts should be made payable to “The Malaya Study Group” and if drawn in a foreign currency must include an extra £5.00 for bank charges. MSG regrets PayPal is not accepted. FR. No. 4’ octagonal French mail boat cancellation. Slight surface damage on top stamp, otherwise fine. 45 Straits Settlements 1904 1¢ green wmk. Multiple Crown CA inverted, fine £15 used and somewhat faded but useful space filler. SG 127aw. 46 FORGERY Br PO in Bangkok on 24c Straits Settlements CA wmk with £15 NPS certificate as a forged “B”. Also states “Has been treated. Corner fault.” Cat £3250 if genuine! 47 SG 52,65 Straits Settlements 5c blue and 8c orange (wmk CA) both used in £15 Pahang (part of ULU PAHANG P.O.) postmarks. 48 9 QV, KEVII & KGV Indian stamps – all with Penang postmarks. £12 49 Straits Settlements QV 32c CA and KEVII 4c & 8c – all with Negapatam, £10 India Brief article explains that a brisk trade was carried on with Straits Settlements. 50 SG84 Straits Settlements 3c on 5c purple FU cat £325. £100 51 Christmas Island postmarks on Straits Settlements KEVII 3c red and 25c £10 purple. 52 Straits Settlements Spiro FORGERIES 1860s-1870s coarse wove, poor £40 perfs, crude productions, but useful study 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24, 32 & 96c + extra 32 & 96c plus extra 30c repro forgery of 1872. Ref Malayan Philatelist 8/3. 53 Straits Settlements ? Panelli FORGERIES, somewhat better, shades not quite £30 right, perforated some with impressed Crown CC & Crown CA not at all like genuine. 2c buff, 2c carmine, 8c orange, 32c maroon, 32c orange, 96c grey, 96c bluish. 54 Straits Settlements 1 QV and 3 KEVII stamps with Tandjong Priok (port for £12 Batavia) p’marks, plus QV, KEVII and KGVI stamps w Batavia pmk. FEDERATED MALAY STATES 59 1900, $1 green and pale green SG 23 'Specimen' Mounted mint with little £30 o.g., good colour. 60 FMS. 1906 to 1928 22 large pages clearly mounted, & displayed low value £25 1c-20c used definitives, many pairs, hundreds MCA & Script wmks, written up but an outdated SG notation, useful for study. 61 F. M. S. 1926 $1 Elephants wmk. Multiple Script CA pale green and green £10 mint, light gum ageing.
