MALAYSIA The Kampung Kuantan Firefly Reserve Jamil bin Hamzah and Suzana Mohkeri Wetlands International-Asia Pacific INTRODUCTION Malaysia is comprised of 13 federal states with Kuala Lumpur as the federal capital situated in the Federal Territory. Eleven states are in West Malaysia (also known as Peninsular Malaysia) and two states are situated in Borneo Island. Selangor is one of the most highly developed and urbanized states in Malaysia. However, there are still large areas of forested lands scattered throughout the state either under forest reserves, owned by the state, private companies or private landowners. Since the beginning of civilization rivers have been the most important source of food, water resources and transportation. In Malaysia, human settlement always related or concentrated along the rivers. Sungai Selangor (Selangor River), is one of the main rivers in the state of Selangor. The headwater of Sungai Selangor originates from the highland area of the Titiwangsa Range, which is part of the Main Range, the backbone of Peninsular Malaysia. It is an important source of water supply for domestic and agriculture use and fishing industries for people living along the riverbanks. Sungai Selangor flows mainly through oil palm estates and small villages and it does not pass through any major towns. Thus the riparian vegetation along the riverbanks is still intact. According to a report prepared by the Department of Environment, Sungai Selangor river basin is listed as one of the two cleanest rivers in Selangor (Environmental Quality Report, 1996). This river is highlighted here not because of its important food and water resources but of its ecotourism factor. -

This, my second formal re-inspection of the Agency’s visa operation in these locations, examined the work of entry clearance staff, with a particular focus on the findings and recommendations from my previous inspection. Overall I noted considerable improvement had been made since my previous inspection. -

People may think that the aviation industry is one of the highest costs in transportation, but if compared to the services and benefits offered, it should be considered as worth money paid. The discussion throughout the paper focuses on passengers’ satisfaction with the service quality provided by Malindo Air. To collect the data on customer satisfaction, a survey on Malindo Air was conducted. The results of the findings demonstrated that service quality is critical to maintaining the passengers' satisfaction. Media Release Terminal 2 prepares to handle more passengers SINGAPORE, 30 August 2012 – With the closure of the Budget Terminal (BT) at Singapore Changi Airport on 25 September 2012, airlines currently operating at the terminal – Berjaya Air, Cebu Pacific, Firefly, Mandala Airlines, South East Asian Airlines and Tiger Airways – will move their operations to Terminal 2 on that day. Changi Airport Group (CAG) has implemented measures to ensure a smooth transition for the airlines while passenger facilities at Terminal 2 are undergoing upgrading works so that service levels will continue to be high. CAG has actively engaged its airline partners to prepare for the move. This has included ensuring that ground handlers and service staff are trained and ready to operate in the new terminal. Since April 2012, CAG has also reassigned the check-in counters for existing carriers in Terminal 2 to accommodate the BT airlines. The revised list can be found in Annex A. Improvements are being made to key touch points in Terminal 2 to enhance the travelling experience for passengers. For example, the Departure and Arrival Immigration areas are currently being upgraded to increase the number of automated immigration gantries. In addition, the taxi waiting area in the Arrival Hall will be expanded and additional taxi bays will also be constructed. The move of the six BT airlines to Terminal 2 will see the addition of some 790 weekly flights. In terms of passenger movements, Terminal 2 and BT managed about 13 million and 5 million respectively in the past year. Terminal 2 can handle up to 23 million passenger movements a year and managed 21.6 million passenger movements in 2007, just before the opening of Terminal 3 in January 2008. -

Sabah and Sarawak cover the northern coast of the island. The lower two‐thirds of Borneo is Kalimantan, which belongs to Indonesia. The area has a fascinating history, and probably because it is on one of the main trade routes through South East Asia, Borneo has had many masters. Sabah and Sarawak were incorporated into the Federation of Malaysia in 1963 and Malaysia is now regarded a safe and orderly Islamic country. Sabah has a diverse ethnic population of just over 3 million people with 32 recognised ethnic groups. The largest of these is the Malays (these include the many different cultural groups that originally existed in their own homeland within Sabah), Chinese and “non‐official immigrants” (mainly Filipino and Indonesian). In recent centuries piracy was common here, but it is now generally considered relatively safe for cruising. However, the nearby islands of Southern Philippines have had some problems with militant fundamentalist Muslim groups – there have been riots and violence on Mindanao and the Tawi Tawi Islands and isolated episodes of kidnapping of people from Sabah in the past 10 years or so. -

In Malaysia, the problem issues are related to traffic congestion and many user cars on the roadway in daily lives. One alternative mode of using a rail network is commuter, LRT, Monorail, MRT and ETS. Therefore, the Geographic Information System (GIS) technology is then used to map and produce the railway networks history and developments in urban public transportation (UPT). The goal of this research is to identify the heatmap trends of the Klang Valley railway stations which included Kuala Lumpur as urban public transport sectors. It was based on the OSM image layer from the year 1990 to 2019 and studied the growth of railway networks through a polyline pattern analysis. -
