2 /7 0.2 U. S., China agree on new N. Korea UN sanctions, Russia has issues -diplomats (1.11/5) By Michelle Nichols UNITED NATIONS, Nov 23 (Reuters) - The United States and China have agreed on new U. N. sanctions to impose on North Korea over the nuclear test it conducted in September, but Russia is delaying action on a draft resolution, a senior Security Council diplomat said on Wednesday. The diplomat, who spoke on condition of anonymity, believed China could persuade Russia to agree to the new sanctions and that the 15-member Security Council could vote on the draft resolution as early as next week. Since North Korea's fifth and largest nuclear test on Sept. 9, the United States and China, a close ally of North Korea, have been negotiating a new draft Security Council resolution to punish Pyongyang. That draft text was recently given to the remaining three permanent council veto powers - Britain, France and Russia. "The (permanent five members) are getting very close to agreement on a draft resolution," the diplomat said. "The key thing is that China and the U. S., who have led this, have got to a position that they agree on. So the issue now is Russia. "The Russians are trying to hold it up but the Chinese are comfortable with it in terms of content," the diplomat said. Two other council diplomats confirmed China has agreed to new sanctions but that Russia had some issues. In Beijing, foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said China supported further action being taken by the Security Council in response to North Korea's nuclear test, but details of the draft resolution were still being discussed. The senior diplomat said the draft resolution closes loopholes in sanctions imposed on North Korea by the council in March, following Pyongyang's fourth nuclear test in January. It cracks down on North Korea's coal exports, the diplomat said, and lists new names for targeted sanctions of a global travel ban and asset freeze. The senior diplomat gave no further details. In March the council banned the 193 U. N. member states from importing North Korean coal, and iron ore unless such transactions were for "livelihood purposes" and would not generate revenue for Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs. Coal is particularly important to the economic health of North Korea, as of its only sources of hard currency and largest single export. Coal also is bartered for essentials, including oil, food and machinery. (Reporting by Michelle Nichols; Additional reporting by Christian Shepherd in Beijing; Editing by Bill Trott)

4 /7 1.1 Beginning of the end: South Korean MPs to vote on impeaching president hit by scandals over Viagra pills and svengali pal South Korean MPs could vote as early as next week on impeaching the country's President Park Geun-Hye, who has been embroiled in a scandal involving a friend and a religious cult. Prosecutors said at the weekend that President Park had colluded with Choi Soon-Sil, who used their friendship to persuade several Korean companies to hand over cash. Park has issued public apologies and promised to co-operate with state prosecutors and an independent special prosecutor set to be appointed by parliament. Woo Sang-Ho, parliamentary leader of the main opposition Democratic Party, said: 'We will seek to vote on the impeachment motion as early as December 2, and no later than December 9.' Many MPs in Park's own Saenuri Party lawmaker also said the impeachment move would be put to a parliamentary vote by December 9. Opposition parties had been hesitant in pushing through an impeachment motion that requires two-thirds support, although they enjoy a combined working majority at the 300-seat parliament. But the move gathered steam when former head of the ruling party Kim Moo-Sung jumped into the fray Wednesday, declaring Park must be impeached for breaching the constitution. More than 30 Saenuri lawmakers support Park's impeachment, with 29 needed to cross party lines for the motion to be passed. If the vote is successful it would be the first time in 12 years that South Korea's parliament has impeached a president. They said Park would be probed as a suspect, pushing to interrogate her directly -- a move which would make her the first sitting South Korean president to be quizzed by prosecutors. Park's lawyer has dismissed the probe's findings as a 'house of cards' built on 'imagination and guesswork', declaring she would not submit herself to the 'politically-biased' prosecutors' questioning. Even if the impeachment vote gets two-thirds support at parliament there is no guarantee the country's conservative Constitutional Court will approve it, even as the snowballing scandal continues to hit South Korean household names. Prosecutors on Thursday raided the finance ministry and the headquarters of two of the country's most powerful companies. SK and Lotte have been accused of making huge donations to foundations linked with Choi in return for lucrative state licences for duty-free businesses. The raid came a day after prosecutors searched the headquarters of Samsung Group over allegations it had bribed Choi to win state approval for a controversial merger it sought last year. Park faces allegations that her government offered policy favours to the firms that offered contributions to Choi's foundations. Several heads of the country's top firms, including Samsung and Hyundai, have been interviewed by prosecutors, shedding light on the unhealthy ties between the government and conglomerates that have endured for decades. Public anger towards Park escalated earlier this month at one of the largest -- and loudest -- anti-government protests the country had ever witnessed.

5 /7 1.0 Duty-free giants that targeted Chinese visitors embroiled in South Korea’s presidential scandal South Korean prosecutors on Thursday raided the finance ministry and the headquarters of two of the country’s most powerful companies in connection with a snowballing corruption scandal engulfing President Park Geun-hye. SK – the South’s third-largest conglomerate – and the number five Lotte have been accused of making huge donations to foundations controlled by Park’s secret confidante, Choi Soon-sil, to win lucrative state licences for duty-free businesses. Prosecutors raided the Seoul headquarters of the two groups and the finance ministry to confiscate documents relating to the duty-free operations, the Yonhap news agency reported. Prosecutors confirmed the raids took place but did not provide further details. SK and Lotte last year lost some of their licences to run the duty-free businesses, which largely target the growing number of Chinese visitors to South Korea, and were seeking to win them back at another auction scheduled in December. Choi is accused of using her personal ties with Park to coerce donations from big firms to two non-profit foundations which were then used for Choi’s personal gain. SK, which runs the country’s top wireless operator, donated 11.1 billion won (US$9.4 million) and Lotte, a retail and food giant, gave 4.9 billion won to the foundations. The raid came a day after prosecutors searched the headquarters of Samsung Group over allegations it had bribed Choi to win state approval for a controversial merger it sought last year. The merger of two Samsung units was seen as crucial to ensure a smooth generational power transfer within the company’s founding family but was criticised by many for causing financial damage to shareholders. The deal went through after Seoul’s state pension fund – a major Samsung shareholder and also the target of a raid on Wednesday – approved it. Park is facing allegations her government offered policy favours to the firms that offered contributions to Choi’s foundations. Prosecutors say Park colluded with Choi to extract money from the companies and will question the president as part of a criminal investigation. The ever widening scandal has seen several heads of the country’s top firms, including Samsung and Hyundai, interviewed by prosecutors, shedding light on unhealthy ties between the government and conglomerates that have endured for decades.

7 /7 0.8 Zico Teams Up With Crush And Dean To Bring You Into The ‘Bermuda Triangle’ — Korean Rapper Lures Fans In With Music Video Teaser Ever since Hallyu began, the popularity of the Korean music industry has depended on K-pop acts. Either they be idol groups or solo artists, many fans of Korean music were first introduced to it through K- pop. After 2010, however, K-pop was starting to lose its status as a blanket term for all forms of popular Korean music, as specific genres of music started to stand out. This is especially true for Korean rap which was led by prominent K-pop group rappers like G-Dragon and CL, to solo rappers like , Beenzino, , and .

It is safe to say at this point that Korean rap is in a league of its own, able to co-exist K-pop. Many are starting to realize this, which not only includes Korean music fans, but the industry itself. Case and point, YouTube featured a Korean rap song “Eung Freestyle” for their Jaysn’s Theme commercial for YouTube Red. Not only that, we are starting to see more collaborations featuring Korean rappers to help push it internationally either it be with each other, such as MOBB ( of iKon and of Winner) or with K-pop soloists such as (“ I ” with Verbal Jint and “ Starlight ” with Dean).

Now Korean rap fans are about to get a major treat as three of the most popular Korean rappers in the industry are about to team up. Zico is teaming up with Crush and Dean for a single titled “Bermuda Triangle.” To help build hype, Zico released a teaser for the music video to lure fans in.

Chatter of Zico’s collaboration with Crush and Dean first started when he posted the above image on his official Instagram. It is a triangle formed by three fluorescent tube lights with the date of November 28 in the center. The next day, the same image with the fluorescent tube light turned on was released. Under the light was the rapper’s name, Zico. Two days after that image, another image appeared with the left fluorescent tube turned on. The name next to it was Crush. Eventually, an image with all three fluorescent tube lights turned on revealed that three rappers, Zico, Crush, and Dean, were working together on “Bermuda Triangle” as shown below.
