RICHARD LANDER SCHOOL WEEKLY BULLETIN 20th March 2014 Dear Parents / carers, Our Year 7 students have had great success in sport: with the Year 7 girls winning the county netball tournament and Year 7 boys winning the county Rugby 7s tournament. The boys team are now county champions in both the 13-a-side as well as 7-a-side tournaments. Our thanks to the PE staff for their great coaching and for supporting these teams. The Collaborative Arts Expo at the Lander Gallery was also a terrific success. This focused on year 8 students from Richard Lander, Penair, the Roseland, Truro School, Truro High School and Education out of School students, working together to produce an art exhibition of high quality, displayed at the Lander Gallery. This year’s theme was ‘Journeys’. My thanks to Mr Conrad and the rest of the Art department for all their efforts in this respect. Our Year 7 Science drop down day was also very successful. It saw 250 students working in teams to design their own rollercoasters and learn about forces. Year 9 students tracked the day with video cameras and we hope a film of this will be put onto the website soon. Our thanks to Mrs Bond for her lead in planning this day. It has also been a pleasure to welcome out French exchange students – who have been with host families for the past week. The return leg takes place at the end of the next week and we wish our students a safe journey and enjoyable time. This is a partnership exchange along with Penair School. Our thanks to Mrs Stokes for all her work to support this.
