Jon Lord June 9 1941 – July 16 2012
Jon Lord June 9 1941 – July 16 2012 Founder member of Deep Purple, Jon Lord was born in Leicester. He began playing piano aged 6, studying classical music until leaving school at 17 to become a Solicitor’s clerk. Initially leaning towards the theatre, Jon moved to London in 1960 and trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama, winning a scholarship, and paying for food and lodgings by performing in pubs. In 1963 he broke away from the school with a group of teachers and other students to form the pioneering London Drama Centre. A year later, Jon “found himself“ in an R and B band called The Artwoods (fronted by Ronnie Wood’s brother, Art) where he remained until the summer of 1967. During this period, Jon became a much sought after session musician recording with the likes of Elton John, John Mayall, David Bowie, Jeff Beck and The Kinks (eg 'You Really Got Me'). In December 1967, Jon met guitarist Richie Blackmore and by early 1968 the pair had formed Deep Purple. The band would pioneer hard rock and go on to sell more than 100 million albums, play live to more than 10 million people, and were recognized in 1972 by The Guinness Book of World Records as “the loudest group in the world”. Deep Purple’s debut LP “Shades of Deep Purple” (1968) generated the American Top 5 smash hit “Hush”. In 1969, singer Ian Gillan and bassist Roger Glover joined and the band’s sound became heaver and more aggressive on “Deep Purple in Rock” (1970), where Jon developed a groundbreaking new way of amplifying the sound of the Hammond organ to match the distinctive sound of the electric guitar. -
WORLD-CLASS RHYTHM-SECTION CHEMISTRY to Get the Best Possible Sounds, We've Compiled a Roster of Ridiculously Good A-List
JM4 WORLD-CLASS RHYTHM-SECTION CHEMISTRY To get the best possible sounds, we’ve compiled a roster of ridiculously good A-list session players and recorded them at amazing studios around the country including Steve Vai’s studio, The Mothership, as well as Sound Asylum in Canoga Park, California and Sound Emporium’s Studio B in Nashville, Tennessee. Here are a few choice cuts: JAM 108 BLUES STOMP VIBE: Gregg counts off this slammy stomp that comes complete with thumpy bass and triplet chorus. FEATURING: Tal Morris (guitar), Tony Franklin (bass), Gregg Bissonette (drums) JAM 126 DRIVING ROCK VIBE: Palmed bass and guitar start off this big, highway-inspired thump. The chorus gets huge when it opens up! FEATURING: Tal Morris (guitar), Tony Franklin (bass), Carmine Appice (drums) JAM 100 OUTLAW COUNTRY CLUB VIBE: A smooth, twangy, mid-tempo bounce inspired by the greats of outlaw county. Jam along to solid rhythms and a sweet chord progression. FEATURING: Brent Mason (lead guitar), Dave Pomeroy (bass), Steve Turner (drums), John Hobbs (keyboards), Pat Bergeson (acoustic guitar), Paul Franklin (steel guitar) JAM 101 OUTLAW COUNTRY VIBE: Solo or comp along with just bass and drums in this stripped-down country jam. FEATURING: Dave Pomeroy (bass), Steve Turner (drums) JAM 157 SUGARFOOT RAG VIBE: Perpetually ready for liftoff, Dave and Steve hold down this rodeo rag perfect for strummin’ or chicken pickin’. FEATURING: Dave Pomeroy (bass), Steve Turner (drums) JAM 112 HALF-TEMPO ROCKER VIBE: Starting off with an explosive drum fill, this jam’s got a wide, roomy drum sound, stiletto guitars and dirty bass. -

Puheenjohtajan tervehdys Oikein mahtavaa Perfect Strangers of Finland PSOF ry:n 20- PSOFin kanssa on eräskin ilta vierähtänyt, milloin suunnitellessa uutta vuotispäivää. Liityin yhdistyksen toimintaan vuonna 2002 ja Purple Nightia ja milloin taas printtejä paitoihin tai julisteisiin. Kaikki huomasin heti tulevani joukkoon, jossa viihdyin. Olin kuunnellut tämä kulutettu aika on kuitenkin – näin jälkikäteen – antanut työlle ja Deep Purplen musiikkia melkein koko ikäni ja tutustunut muidenkin muulle arjelle upeaa vastapainoa. Yhdistyksen kanssa viettämäni aika Deep Purplen sukupuun artistien musiikkiin omasta mielestäni aika on vienyt aikaa, mutta vastapainona antanut tapaamisia mm. Deep hyvin. Yhdistys on sukupuun levyihin tutustuessa. Daniel Trigger Pure Star Movement Already Gone
Foo Fighter this month and concentrating on recording the second album at the end of 2012.’ www.truckerdiablo.com ETERNAL PURE STAR MOVEMENT labels. As far as live dates go, I’m looking for the right opportunities – it is still an ambition of mine to fill the ‘special guest’ slot for a professional band. I have also begun writing material for the follow-up to ‘Infinite Persistence’, which is shaping up nicely…expect more thunderous stadium rock in the near future!’ www.danieltrigger.co.uk ALREADY GONE ‘Chapter 1’ is the new album from Swedish melodic rockers ETERNAL, with a slick crisp production and it baffles me as to why bands like Eternal remain unsigned. ‘Cross The Line’ is sprinkled in keyboards and is a catchy melodic dream. Christer comes over sounding like Anders Eklund from House Of Shakira crossed with Mark Boals and ‘Arrival to Earth’ is the breathtaking album from South David Readman from Pink Cream 69, while the song itself Bend sensations PURE STAR MOVEMENT. PSM border on is maybe a little Axel Rudi Pell in style. The Europe meets modern melodic/progressive rock influences and is rich in Masterplan crispness of ‘Dead Or Alive’ is a good melodic, diversity and heartfelt musical passion. ‘Unstoppable’ is while ‘Human’ is a little tighter with a punchy chorus and stunning commercial modern rock in style, with the vocals solid guitars in the vein of Domain and PC69. ‘Ray Of Light’ is almost like Kip Winger in the high parts. Musically the song another catchy ditty, a faster paced song, a little Royal Hunt is progressive, modern progressive rock if you will. -

From: Lennart Hedenstrom <[email protected]> Hello all, Time for a run through the latest news. STUART SMITH CD IS OUT The Stuart Smith CD "Heaven and Earth" CD featuring Glenn Hughes on a cover of an old blues track, "See that My Grave Is Kept Clean" is out now. The deal is with Samsung in Korea where this initial release is from but Smith and his team is working on a licensing deal in other parts of the world. I like the album a lot and it contains a lot of good old classic rock/AOR/melodic rock type of stuff but also folk influences and even som classical bits. A very consistent album with a strong quality throughout and the "guest list" is quite impressing: Glenn Hughes, Joe Lynn Turner, Richie Sambora, Kelly Hansen, Howard Leese, Steve Priest, Ricky Phillips and many many more. -
