TANYA HENNESSY

Tanya Hennessy is a face to watch and a voice to listen out for! Radio announcer, comedian, and content creator… Tanya is quickly becoming known as a funny IT girl, and can currently be heard on breakfast radio on HIT104.7 Canberra, the number one FM breakfast show in the nation’s capital, as well as Saturday morning on 2Day FM in Sydney on the Ryan and Tanya show.

Her radio career began in 2012 with Southern Cross at NXFM Newcastle, where Tanya worked as the weekend announcer. She followed this with stints as a Breakfast Announcer in Griffith, NSW and Toowoomba, QLD. During that time, she also had a segment on the ’s national show SCOOPLA with Jules Lund and Emma Freedman. In 2016 she took on the breakfast shift for HIT104.7 in Canberra working alongside co-host Ryan Jon on the Ryan and Tanya Show. Tanya has also filled in across national breakfast shows on the HIT Network.

A content creator with a difference, Tanya’s engaging and relatable take on life has seen one of her latest Facebook videos, a comical take on a makeup tutorial, accumulate over 200 million views globally. Across all her digital platforms, her following is growing exponentially as people are tuning in from all over the world to connect with her and be entertained by her highly amusing and self-deprecating take on life. In 2017 she was given the Video Junkee Breakthrough Award, and has been nominated for Cosmo Woman of the Year. Tanya was also invited as one of very few Australians to be a featured creator at the inaugural VidCon event in Australia, and has been seen on the digital series of Bachelor/Bachelorette Unpacked for Channel Ten.

As a writer, Tanya contributes to News.com.au where she candidly shares her experiences and opinions on life matters. One particular column on the ‘difficulty of moving cities and having no friends’ is one of the most viewed articles on News.com.au and featured on several national breakfast and news television shows including National 9 News, Studio 10, Weekend TODAY and The Project. Her columns are regularly syndicated across News Corporation publications including Daily Telegraph, The Courier Mail, and Perth & Adelaide Now.

Never one to shy away from having a laugh at herself, Tanya started her career as an actor/comic with a Bachelor of Arts Theatre/Media from CSU, and has also studied short courses at Screenwise and the National Institute of Dramatic Arts.
