PaulPaul McMcCCartney:artney: su esperado regreso a México Luna llena de la ciudad de México permaneció agazapada detrás de la nubes, al momento en que Paul McCartney salió al escenario para ofrecer el primero de dos conciertos en el Foro Sol, dentro de su gira mundial Up and Coming, pero cuando la cuarta parte de los Beatles alzó su bajo sobre su cabeza, al concluir su canción de apertura, Venus and EL SIGLO DE DURANGO 5 • Junio • 2010 Mars/Rockshow, las nubes la dejaron al descubierto para que ambos astros protagonizaran una noche memorable. 6 Reencuentro El reloj marcaba las 21:14 horas cuando McCartney, elegantemente vestido, jovial y rozagante saludó a los 55 mil religiosos de su música congregados en el Foro Sol: ¡Hola, México! ¡Hola, chilangos! Estamos muy contentos de estar nuevamente aquí. Luego comenzó a entregarse, en todo momento, a la hambrienta multitud, y a saciar el apetito que dejó a medias ocho años atrás. Entre canción y canción no dejó de agradecer, jugar, bromear con la gente, lo cual provocaba una respuesta inme- diata; incluso hubo quien al final le lanzó una playera de la Selección Mexicana de futbol, en señal de júbilo y como respuesta a su entrega, se escuchaba el incesante grito de ¡Paul, Paul, Paul, Paul! Miró el cielo con asombro Uno de los momentos más esperados se dio casi a las dos horas de concierto, cuando tocó Let it be, con Paul al piano y Brian Ray en el bajo. De ahí se pasó a los juegos pirotécnicos, durante la interpreta- cón de Live and let die, tema que concluyó Paul recargado en el piano, con la mano izquierda en su mejilla, mirando al cielo con asombro. Paul McCartney tomó esta vez su guitarra, la levantó sobre su cabeza, miró al cielo, abrió los brazos y sonrió. Take It Away (promotional film) The filming of the promotional video for 'Take It Away' took place at EMI's Elstree Studios in Boreham Wood and was directed by John MacKenzie. Six hundred members of the Wings Fun Club were invited along as a live audience to the filming, which took place on Wednesday 23 June 1982. The band comprised Paul on bass, Eric Stewart on lead, George Martin on electric piano, Ringo and Steve Gadd on drums, Linda on tambourine and the horn section from the Q Tips. In between the various takes of 'Take It Away' Paul and his band played several numbers to entertain the audience, including 'Lucille', 'Bo Diddley', 'Peggy Sue', 'Send Me Some Lovin", 'Twenty Flight Rock', 'Cut Across Shorty', 'Reeling And Rocking', 'Searching' and 'Hallelujah I Love Her So'. Guitarsystems A short overview of visiting LA and the NAMM Show 2010 By Paul Lenders This is my second visit to the LA NAMM, my first visit to the NAMM was back in 2008. Like the first time I went with my friend Christian Tolle. Christian is musician himself and a free lance journalist for the German guitar magazine Gitarre und Bass and writes interviews with famous guitar players. This time he did interviews with Michael Thompson and Lon Cohen. Staying at Lon Cohen's place In LA we again stayed at Lon Cohen's place, thanks again Lon for your hospitality. Lon owns one of the major studio rental companies in Los Angels. He is doing rentals of exclusive, high quality and vintage equipment for the most famous artists recording and touring in the USA (check out his extensive customer list ) You can rent from a '69 Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face, a '56 Fender Strat up to a complete custom Bradshaw rig. Next we will have PL GuitarSystems pedal board for rental through Lon's rental :-) Visit Rivera's new production plant We visited to Paul Rivera's new production plant. We met Paul and Paul Jr. and Christian and I had a very nice dinner with Paul. Paul was working on his new amp for the NAMM show.
