This is the record eighth regular-season title for the Aztecs which have won at least a share of seven of the last 11 regular-season championships (Brigham Young is second on the list with six, among active members, New Mexico is second with four). For the first time in the school’s Division I era, San Diego State has won consecutive outright regular-season conference championships. San Diego State has won Mountain West regular-season titles in 2006, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2020 and 2021 (bold indicates outright titles). Including tournament titles, San Diego State has won a record 13 Mountain West men’s basketball championships. New Mexico is second on that list with eight titles. Brian Dutcher has been on the sidelines for all 13 of the championships, with three of those coming as the head coach. San Diego State is 17-2 in the last 19 game splayed between the Aztecs and Rebels. Since the start of the 2008-09 campaign, San Diego State has 35 victories at Thomas & Mack Center.
