What if I don’t get 4’s at GCSE?

• There is a requirement to re-sit GCSE English and Maths if you have not received a grade 4 • You need four 3’s to do a GCSE re-sit package at Havering Sixth Form College • Level 1 and 2 courses available according to GCSE grades Applications

• You can apply to as many schools and colleges as you like • Apply by end of January for transfer colleges; most college applications are online • Each school will have their own closing dates, some are before Christmas • Other colleges, apply as soon as you know you are interested in a course Consider a back up plan/s

• If applying to school 6th Forms and your mock grades are 6 or below, be sure to apply to other colleges or consider whether you are happy to take BTEC • Check grade requirements for courses at college • Is there an alternative course at a lower level at the college that you are interested in? If not, apply elsewhere • Remember have Plan A, Plan B and even Plan C What is an apprenticeship?

Final points to note

• Apply to school/college anyway – many apprenticeships tend to be advertised later on in the year e.g. March 2019 after closing dates for college • You don’t have to confirm a place at college until your GCSE results in August
