IntroductIon Jonathan Stern This is the first academic book in any language to be entirely devoted to the pricing of internationally traded gas. The majority of books on gas are notably silent on the issue of pricing.1 Given the sizeable amount of research dealing with international oil prices, this is extremely surprising and would alone be sufficient justification for this work, but there are additional reasons for believing that such a volume is long overdue. First, the growing importance of natural gas in energy balances world- wide, which is partly a function of the expansion of international gas trade. Second the rise to prominence and importance of natural gas issues – and especially pricing issues – in energy and political relations between countries. -

College (Auto.), Bhawanipatna, Kalahandi, Odisha, India 2Department of Economics, Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, India 3IIT Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India Abstract The present study is an attempt to study the major causes of out migration in Kalahandi district of Odisha. The study is mainly based on primary data collected through semi-structured questionnaire from two blocks of the district, namely Golamunda and Narla with the total sample size of 300 households. In selecting the sample households, a proportionate sampling along with simple random sampling technique has been used. The study used descriptive statistics, percentage, ratio and cross tabulation to analyze the data. The major findings of the study show that most of the migrants (96%) in the study area are seasonal (or temporary) migrants while a few migrants (4%) are permanent migrants. Among the different social categories, the intensity of migration is highest among SC migrants. Besides, most of the migrants are in the age group of 41-50 and basically the illiterate or very low educated workers (0-5 years of education) are migrated in large number as compared to relatively higher educated workers. So far as place of migration is concerned most of the migrants are migrated to the interstates and very few of them are migrated to the inter districts. -

INTRODUCTION With able guidance and leadership of our Chairman Dr. C. Rangarajan and other Board of Governors of Madras School of Economics (MSE), MSE completes its 21 years as on September 23, 2014. During these 21 years, MSE reached many mile stones and emerged as a leading centre of higher learning in Economics. It is the only center in the country offering five specialized Masters Courses in Economics namely M.Sc. General Economics, M.Sc. Financial Economics, M.Sc. Applied Quantitative Finance, M.Sc. Environmental Economics and M.Sc. Actuarial Economics. It also offers a 5 year Integrated M.Sc. Programme in Economics in collaboration with Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN). It has been affiliated with University of Madras and Central University of Tamil Nadu for Ph.D. programme. So far twelve Ph.Ds. and 640 M.Sc. students have been awarded. Currently six students are pursuing Ph.D. degree. The core areas of research of MSE are: Macro Econometric Modeling, Public Finance, Trade and Environment, Corporate Finance, Development, Insurance and Industrial Economics. MSE has been conducting research projects sponsored by leading national and international agencies. It has successfully completed more than 110 projects and currently undertakes more than 20 projects. -

Department, M.S.Poly, Beed, MH, India ABSTRACT Power Sector in India has grown significantly from independence both in the installed electricity generating capacity and transmission & distribution (T&D) system. The total power generating capacity of (utilities & non utilities) has increased from meager 1362 MW in 1947 to 267 GW at the end of March, 2015. The per capita electricity consumption which was mere 16.3 kWh in1947 has increased to 1010 KW h in 2014-15. With a production of 1,031 TWh. India is the third largest producer and fourth largest consumer of electricity in the world. It has fifth largest installed capacity in the world. Maharashtra plays very vital role in the evolution of the Indian power sector. As of 2012, Maharashtra was the largest power generating state in India, with installed electricity generation capacity with 26,838 MW. The state forms a major constituent of the western grid of India, which now comes under the North, East, West and North Eastern (NEWNE) grids of India. Maharashtra Power Generation Company controls and runs thermal power plants.
