Locker room ７ Paralympic Games-Related Activities Wheelchair Rugby On Saturday July 12th and Sunday July 13th 2014, the 16th All Japan Wheelchair Rugby League B Championship Preliminaries were held at the Hokkaido University of Education Iwamizawa Campus`s Daisan Gymnasium. Over the 2 days, about 500 people came to watch the games, and one could quite literally hear the rising interest for adaptive sports. Furthermore, in July 2015, the training camp for the Certified Japanese Representative Players was also held at Iwamizawa Campus`s Daisan Gymnasium, as well as the Kitamura Training Centre. Let`s Try! Adapted Sports in Iwamizawa On Saturday July 27th 2015, the `Let`s Try! Adapted Sports in Iwamizawa` event was held at the Hokkaido University of Education Iwamizawa Campus. The event allowed participants to experience various sports such as blind soccer, wheelchair fencing, wheelchair rugby, wheelchair curling and boccia, with a total of 800 people ranging from children to the elderly, as well as professional athletes, participating. Many participants voiced such opinions after the event: that they were glad they were able to see, learn about and experience sports they had never heard about before; that they had never heard the term `adapted sports` before but now understood what it really meant; and that they were looking forward to Iwamizawa hosting another such fabulous event. ８ Main Accommodations Hokkaido Greenland Hotel Sunplaza Hokkaido Greenland`s official hotel. The grounds of the Hokkaido 21st Century Exhibition that was held in 1986 were simply inherited as they were and made into an amusement park. Boasting such rides as the tallest Ferris wheel in Hokkaido at 85m high and the longest roller coaster `GO-ON` at a total length of 1500m, the park is home to 46 kinds of large-scale attractions. In addition, the park holds fun events such as the annual hero/heroine show and the summertime fireworks show where 5000 firecrackers light up the night sky. Onsen (hot spring) Facilities (Maple Lodge and Kitamura Onsen) In Iwamizawa, there are two hot spring facilities that have different types of hot spring water. Both accommodate daytrips and overnight stays.。 あ ・Maple Lodge - Water: Sodium hydrogen carbonate cold mineral spring Effective against: chronic dermatitis, neuralgia (nerve pain), sensitivity to the cold, exhaustion, frozen shoulder (stiff, painful shoulders), etc. あ・Kitamura Onsen - Water: High sodium chloride spring (hypertonic neutral hot water spring) Effective against: Neuralgia, joint pain, muscle pain, frozen shoulder, motor paralysis, chronic enteropathy (digestive diseases), chronic gynecopathy (female disorders), chronic dermatitis, etc. Hyappei Festival Started in 1983 by several willing members as part of a city revitalization project, this festival uses Iwamizawa local specialty rice. Watching participants work together to raise the 200kg pestle and drop it into the colossal special mortar (2.1m diameter, 4t in weight) to pound out the large bag of mochi (sticky rice cake) in the city centre is very exciting.     哺 動 学 誌(J.Mamm.Soc.Japan)11(3・4):93-106 December1986 Vertical Space Use of Voles and Mice in Woods of Hokkaido, Japan* Hisashi ABE Institute of Applied Zoology, Faculty of Agriculture, Hokkaido University, Sapporo 060, Japan (Accepted February 5, 1986) ABSTRACT.- I observed the use of vertical stratification of woods by two species of voles, Clethrionomys rufocanus bedfordiae and C. rutilus mikado, and by three species of mice, Apodemus speciosus ainu, A. peninsulae giliacus and A. argenteus, in four different types of woods in Hokkaido, Japan. I set containers in the woods inside which a piece of bait was placed, including minute pieces of colored indigestible plastic, which were separated by color in each of four strata (under the litter, on the litter surface, and 50 cm and 150 cm in height above the litter), and at the same time performed live-trapping on the ground surface. All the faeces dropped in traps were then collected and analyzed to estimate the degree of vertical space use. All species but one used all four strata of habitats, but the vertical niche width (H') was narrowest in C. rufocanus and widest in A. argenteus, with subequal and intermediate widths in C. rutilus and A. speciosus. Data of A. peninsulae were insufficient to estimate the use of strata. As to habitat preference, C. rufocanus appeared in all four habitats, C. rutilus in three, A. speciosus in two, and the remaining two in one habitat. These trends of habitat preference agreed with those found in Hokkaido to date. Introduction Six species of murid rodents occur in Hokkaido.
