Reply to YB Dr. Ong Kian Ming, Member of Parliament for Bangi and Dr
Reply to YB Dr. Ong Kian Ming, Member of Parliament for Bangi and Dr. Kelvin Yii, Member of Parliament for Bandar Kuching I thank you for your questions and your efforts in increasing registration among people in your respective constituencies. I will take your questions in turn below. 1. What is the geographical distribution of those above 60 who have yet to register for the COVID19 vaccine? Currently, registration for those above 60 stands at 40.1%. It ranges from 56.8% in Putrajaya, to 22.9% in Sabah. For States with low registration numbers such as in Sabah, Kelantan (25.1%), Terengganu (29.4%), Kedah (30.9%) and Pahang (31.5%), we are working with MKN, NADMA and the state governments on an outreach programme to encourage people to register, particularly for senior citizens. The outreach programme is not only to help them register for PICK but also to convince them on why it is important for people their age to be vaccinated against COVID-19. We also assure them that the vaccines are safe, effective and if they have any religious concerns, we also reassure them that the vaccines are halal. We are also working with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development to register and vaccinate residents and caregivers at elderly care homes. Mobile vaccination teams will be sent to the care homes to vaccinate on site. 2. What steps have been taken to work with state governments in order to increase the vaccine registration rate? I have spoken to all Menteris Besar and Chief Ministers virtually over the last month and a half. -
From Acting Opposition Leader to YB 'Tarik Balik' Malaysiakini.Com November 08, 2010
From acting opposition leader to YB 'tarik balik' Malaysiakini.com November 08, 2010 Teluk Bahang (Umno) assemblyperson Hilmi Yahya had a daunting task today to deliver the opposition leader's speech on the recently announced 2011 budget at the Penang state assembly. Hilmi, who became acting opposition leader following Azhar Ibrahim's six-month suspension from the assembly for uttering seditious remarks, however, was not prepared for the missiles awaiting him inside the Dewan. NONEHe appeared so unprepared that at every juncture, he was interjected by Pakatan Rakyat assemblypersons, asking him to withdraw either an 'offensive' word, a 'scandalous' statement or an accusation of corruption against his opponents. To his credit, Hilmi (left), who is a former Penang deputy chief minister, readily withdrew his problematic utterances as soon as he made them when asked to provide evidence of his allegations. “I will retract the statement to save time,” he said, although he had been asked to retract his statement about 20 times in the morning session alone. One of his allegations involved accusing Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng of accepting bribery for his recent business trip to Australia in September. He was shot down immediately and fiercely by the usually mild-mannered Tanjong assemblyperson Chow Kon Yeow, who demanded that he retract his accusations or provide proof within 24 hours, failing which, he would be referred to the powerful privileges and rights committee. “I am just expressing the grievances of the rakyat,” explained Hilmi, but was told to withdraw his statement by house speaker Abdul Halim Hussain, which he eventually complied with. -

Azmin: No need for Selangor govt reshuffle to exclude PAS Free Malaysia Today May 9, 2017 By Adam Abu Bakar Selangor Menteri Besar says voters made their pick and mandate for parties currently forming the state government is for one term. SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali has dismissed a call by Amanah Youth for the state’s leadership line-up to be reshuffled after the PAS muktamar (general assembly) resolved to terminate its cooperation with PKR on April 30. The PKR deputy president today said voters in the last general election in May 2013 had chosen PAS as well as DAP and PKR to jointly form the state government. “They made the selection, not me,” he said, referring to the 15 assemblymen from PAS, 15 from DAP and 14 from PKR who won state seats. “The mandate is for one term. “When it comes to the next term, we will leave it to the voters again,” he said, adding that the government was not formed based on parties but on the majority support in the state assembly. He said this to reporters on the sidelines of an event at the Shah Alam Convention Centre here. Amanah Deputy Youth chief Shazni Munir Mohd Ithnin was quoted earlier today as saying that a reshuffle was needed to solidify the collaboration among PKR, DAP, Amanah and PPBM as components in Pakatan Harapan in Selangor. He said it would also prevent the state from falling into the hands of Barisan Nasional. Azmin said he was willing to meet PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang to resolve the differences between PKR and the Islamist party. -
