4 Taizé Service Friday, February 22, 7:00 pm Trust and Hope in the Lord

Taizé Prayer is a simple Christ-centered prayer in the form of song, silence and Holy Scripture inspired by the monastic tradition of the Taizé Community just outside of Cluny, France.

This form of prayer unites Western and Eastern prayer using repeated Scriptural verses and spiritual writings in chant and song; it uses candles, icons and silence to provide an environment of prayer and meditation. Also, you may freely come forward to an icon for more focused, personal prayer. We warmly invite you to come sing, pray, meditate, experience and be part of Taizé Prayer. Future Taizé services: Good Friday, April 19 and Friday, May 31, both at 7:00 pm

5 Catholic Faith Appeal Where does the money from your pledge go?

The Catholic Schools Department serves 4,588 students at 15 Catholic schools, including tenparish elementary schools, three high schools, one special needs school and one school with pre-kindergarten through twelfth grades.

The Office of Vocations promotes a calling to the priesthood and religious life and provides guidance in an individual’s discernment process. The Diocese currently has 17 men in seminary formation. With costs over $70,000 per year for each student, your generosity helps support future priests. In response to the Church’s ministerial needs, the Permanent Diaconate Program is designed to assist in the academic and spiritual formation of candidates for the Diaconate. If you wish to make a pledge, or give a one-time donation, envelopes are available in each pew slot.

It is a prayer practice taught by Jesus: “when you pray, go into your inner room, close the door and pray to your God in secret…” Matt. 6:6.

It is a disciplined prayer practice to deepen your most important relationship and to more fully experience God’s action and presence in your life. Sound familiar? Fr. Joe reminds us of this with each and every sermon he gives. A 40-day Lenten commitment to this prayer practice can, and will, change your life.

Join us on Saturday, March 2 from 9:00-12:00 am in the Spirit Center, where we will introduce you to this practice. Registration begins at 8:30 am. Coffee and breakfast snacks will be provided. 9 Super Spirit Sunday PRIMING THE PUMP FOR LENT! Last Sunday, our families spent the morning learning about the traditions of Lent and how traditional Lenten practices bring us closer to God and make us better disciples. The families participated in our “Lent! True or False” game and brainstormed some new and different ways to practice prayer, fasting and almsgiving in the coming Lenten season. Everyone went home with a Family Lenten Toolkit and a plan to make Lent special this year.
