Th ese individuals can always be counted on to have the best interest of the student- athletes at heart. SENIOR AWARDS Senior Awards are presented each year to show appreciation for the dedication and devotion of student- athletes with four years of collegiate (including junior or prior college) experience. Emphasis is given to student-athletes who have played four years at Hunter. A plaque with a photo is given to each senior. GOLDEN HAWK AWARD Th e Golden Hawk Awards are given each year in recognition of one senior male and one senior female student-athlete who have achieved outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments. Th e recipients are evaluated by the athletic staff giving an equal review to both academic and athletic achievements. PURPLE & GOLD AWARD Th e award recognizes the hard work and dedication of a student, student-athlete or community member who donates time and energy in helping promote the Athletic Program. Th e winner is someone who student-athletes and staff can always count on for support. HAWK ELITE 18 AWARD Th is is a new award that will be given annually to a graduating senior Hawk with the highest undergraduate, cumulative GPA. TEAM GPA AWARD Th is award is given to the team that works hard each day in the classroom from the fall through the spring. Th is award is presented to the team with the highest GPA. MOST IMPROVED GPA Th is award honors the team that has demonstrated an improvement in the classroom. Th is award is given to a team with the highest level of improvement of GPA from the prior year to the present year. COACHES AWARD Th is award is given to the individual on a team who embodies characteristics each coach values such as heart, dedication or commitment to the team. MOST IMPROVED PERFORMER AWARD Th is award honors an individual on a team who has displayed the most improvement across a season as chosen by the Head Coach. MOST VALUABLE PERFORMER AWARD Th e Most Valuable Performer award is issued to the team member who has been a consistent diff erence maker on the team. Th e award is the highest athletic individual team accolade of the evening. 2014 Men’s Cross Country Season Outcome Season Recap SUNY Purchase - 2nd NJIT Invitational - 2nd Th e men’s cross country team enjoyed a successful 2015 campaign which was Bard Invitational- 6th capped with a third place fi nish at the CUNYAC Championship. Philly Metro Champs - 6th 7th Annual Jack Saint Clair Aft er a solid second place season opener at the SUNY Purchase Invitational, Memorial Cross Country the Hawks used the momentum into the following week at the NJIT Invita- Championship - 7th tional where they were once again the runner up thanks to top-10 fi nishes by St. Joseph’s College - 4th Christian Rojas, Mark Carles and Walter Rodriguez. Th e trio led the Hawks for CUNYAC - 3rd most of the year and were their top-three runners. ECAC - 29th place Th e Purple and Gold fi nished no worse than seventh place in the meets leading up to the CUNYAC Championship; they fi nished sixth at the Bard College and Honors and Awards Philadelphia Metro Championships and took home seventh place at the 7th CUNYAC All-Stars Annual Jack Saint Clair Memorial Cross Country Championship. In their fi nal -Christian Rojas tune-up before the conference championships, the squad earned a fourth place -Mark Carles fi nish at the St. Joseph’s College Invitational. -Walter Rodriguez Sportsmanship Team At the CUNYAC Championships, the squad came home with a hard fought, -Christian Rojas third place fi nish on the strength of three top-10 individual fi nishes led by Rojas’ runner up performance. Carles and Rodriguez also had solid outings, 2014 Roster placing seventh and tenth respectively. Manish Chaudhari and Diego Buen Diego Buen Jr. rounded out the top-fi ve runners. Th e harriers fi nished with a total of 73 Mark Carles So. points, just three behind runner up John Jay and 10 points behind the winners, Manish Chaudhari Jr. Staten Island. Michael Lam So. Roman Leshchinskiy So. Closing out the season, the Hawks competed at the ECAC Division III Cross Asadur Rahim So. Country Championships, squaring off against the best teams in the region. Walter Rodriguez Jr. Th ey held their own and placed 29th overall out of a fi eld of 43 teams. Christian Rojas Sr. Damonie Salmon Fr. Post season accolades came in the form of CUNYAC All-Stars to Rojas, Carles Geovani Valerio Jr. and Rodriguez. Rojas was also named to the Sportsmanship Team. Coaching Staff Head Coach Ed Zarowin Assistant Coaches Sidney Milden Sean Fortune Shantel Peters 2014 Women’s Cross Country Season Outcome Season Recap SUNY Purchase - 3rd NJIT Invitational - 3rd Th e women’s cross country team ran their way to an outstanding 2014 cam- Bard Invitational- 6th paign which included four, top-fi ve fi nishes and was capped by taking the Philly Metro Champs - 8th crown at the CUNYAC cross country championships; their fi rst since 2011. 7th Annual Jack Saint Clair Memorial Cross Country Th e Hawks got off to a hot start, hitting the ground running in their season Championship - 7th opener at the SUNY Purchase Invitational and taking third place. Th e follow- St. Joseph’s College - 4th ing weekend, they continued the trend and matched their team performance CUNYAC - 1st with another third place fi nish at the NJIT Classic. ECAC - 29th place In the bigger meets, the Purple and Gold held their own as shown by an eighth place fi nish at the Philadelphia Metro Championship and a seventh place spot Honors and Awards at the Seventh Annual Jack Saint Clair Memorial Cross Country Champion- CUNYAC CHAMPIONS ships. In their fi nal tune up before the conference championship, Hunter CUNYAC Rookie of the Year earned fourth at the St. Joseph’s College Invitational. -Norma Reza Santos CUNYAC Coach of the Year Peaking at the right time of the year, Head Coach Ed Zarowin and the rest of -Coach Ed Zarowin his harriers earned the program’s 12th CUNYAC Women’s Cross Country title CUNYAC All-Stars behind the performance of sophomore Deborah Ramirez who fi nished third -Nicole Lenard with a time of 25:34 over the 6,000m course and narrowly edging fourth place -Mary Leong by less than three seconds. She led three of her teammates to top-10 fi nishes; -Alexandra Martinolich Norma Santos in fi ft h, Nicole Lenard in sixth and Alexandra Martinolich in -Deborah Ramirez eighth. Sportsmanship Team -Mary Leong Capping the season, Ramirez led the Hawks at the ECAC Championships with a 64th place fi nish while three of her teammates also competed. 2014 Roster Toshawna Adams Sr. Th e Hawks were awarded for their outstanding performances as Coach “Z” Valentina Bedoya So. took home Coach of the Year honors, Nicole Lenard was named the Rookie of Alexa Kluepfel Fr. the Year and four earned All-Star status; Lenard, Mary Leong, Martinolich and Nicole Lenard Fr. Almeda Spahija Jr. Coaching Staff Head Coach Ed Zarowin Assistant Coaches Sidney Milden Sean Fortune Shantel Peters 2014 Men’s Soccer Season Outcome Season Recap 4-12-1, 3-4-1 CUNYAC CUNYAC Semi-Finals Under second year head coach, John Sanchez, the 2014 Hawks soccer team doubled their win total and tallied more victories in conference play compared Honors and Awards to the previous two seasons.
