Our Open Red team went through the Championships undefeated! With many of our experienced players still overseas in Amsterdam at the World Series, our young slow start, our girls found their softball ‘mojo’ and team (most senior player Jessica Muller at the ripe age punched above their weight to win a berth in the grand of 25J) performed outstandingly. BIG BASH BASHING BIGGER SCORERS’ CORNER

A number of our valued scorers have been picked up by other associations to help out at the various State Championships. The BSA would like to thank those con- cerned for once again volunteering your time.

Chris Bailey, our intrepid Scoring Coordinator, is busy preparing for the season and being the Statistician for our U19 Women’s team competing this week end. One of the things Chris is preparing for was mentioned in the last newsletter— the idea to select a particular game time slot each week for interested scorers to gather and score the game or just discuss scoring. The concept is gathering momentum and looks like going ahead. Whether it is a weekly thing or not is yet to be decided.

Questions? For any scoring questions or to register interest in any of the above ideas, please contact Chris Bailey, BSA Scoring Co-ordinator, at [email protected] or 0407643602.

OLYMPIC WATCH Baseball and softball, along with other sports, are hoping to be eligible for possible Olympic consideration at the Tokyo 2020 Games, pending discussion of a more flexible Olympic sports selection process at the IOC ex- traordinary session in Monaco in 8/9 December. Baseball and softball last appeared on the Olympic Games pro- gramme at Beijing 2008 and failed in its initial bid for Tokyo 2020 inclusion at last year's IOC Session in Bue- nos Aires where wrestling was retained on the programme having controversially been recommended for exclu- sion after Rio 2016.
