Telenet becomes ‘Home of the HBO’ Mechelen, September 17, 2014 - Telenet announces a renewal of their deal with HBO and also confirms Telenet as the Home of HBO. This positions Telenet as the exclusive ‘Home of HBO’ in Flanders until 2018. In addition, Telenet will also be able to add a selection of popular series such as "Band of Brothers," "Generation Kill" and "The Sopranos." from the HBO archive to its premium offer. The deal also includes films from Cinemax, a subsidiary of HBO. ‘Home of HBO‘ With the award of the title ‘Home of HBO’ Telenet continues to be the only destination for first run HBO programs in Flanders. All episodes of new series or seasons exclusively on Telenet For the Telenet subscribers, this means they will get access to HBO’s critically-acclaimed original programming shortly after their release in the US. Currently, certain episodes are available 7 days after the US release. Shows such as "Game of Thrones' were available less than a week after their US premiere. Telenet and HBO are working closely to shorten this gap with an aim to air episodes within a day of their US premiere. Complete series with all episodes and all seasons This collaboration also allows Telenet to offer several complete boxsets from the rich HBO archive via Rex and Rio. Classics such as 'The Sopranos', ‘The Comeback’ and 'Band of Brothers' are on their way to being made available on Rex and Rio. In the coming years, we will be adding more such programs to Rex and Rio. Selection from the Cinemax catalogue Cinemax is a premium pay TV channel also owned by HBO and known for 'The Knick "from director Steven Soderbergh with Clive Owen and the Banshee. Under the renewed contract, Telenet can also select a series from Cinemax catalog.
