Irwin and Xenia S. Miller Prize were identified. The Exhibit Columbus team conducted interviews with 19 potential participants and awarded five winners based on a series of criteria that included strong interest and connection with the curatorial theme and a desire to work in Columbus. • The Washington Street Civic Project Leaders were selected by the core Exhibit Columbus team based on their past experiences and connection to the curatorial theme. • In a highly competitive process, the University Design Research Fellows submitted proposal ideas based on their research and were awarded fellowships based on similar criteria. • During the first cycle of programming in 2016 -2017, Exhibit Columbus identified Miller Prize Winners through a Juried Competition. For this cycle, we chose to focus on a group of participants who could build a deeper, more impactful relationship with the community by removing the element of competition. This allowed all of the 2019 exhibition designers to attend and participate in the 2018 National Symposium, held at the end of September 2018, and come back to Columbus throughout the year for programs and presentations. Apps - Statement on iOS vs. Android Exhibit Columbus is excited to be able to provide a free audio app experience for the 2019 exhibition. This app is available for download on Apple products in the App Store. Why not other devices? It is a matter of resources; apps are expensive to develop and EC research has shown Apple devices are primarily most used among our audience. How can I use the apps without an iPhone/iPad? Yes, the library has generously offered to check out iPads during the exhibition to allow visitors to experience both the Hear/Here app and The Long Now app. J. Irwin and Xenia S. Irwin and Xenia S. Miller Prize. • Exhibit Columbus is the flagship event of Landmark Columbus, whose mission is to care for the architectural legacy of Columbus and inspire communities to invest in architecture, art, and design to improve people’s lives and make cities better places to live. • Landmark Columbus has created dozens of inspiring events and programs that have educated the community and advocated for continued care of the design heritage. • Landmark Columbus has helped improve the physical condition of a number of buildings, landscapes, and public artworks. • The most notable example of the organization’s purposefulness to date is its advocacy and fundraising for Friends of First Christian Church Architecture, a new organization that was created in partnership with the Church, Heritage Fund, and Indiana Landmarks. In the spirit of the Columbus Way, we worked together to raise $160,000 in just nine months to save the skylight in the sanctuary. After years of disrepair, plans are now in motion to restore this iconic design feature. • Landmark Columbus was recently awarded a prestigious Getty Foundation Keeping it Modern grant to develop a preservation plan for North Christian Church. North Christian Church is one of ten international buildings on this year’s list and is joined by the Miller House and Garden as well. It is unprecedented to have two Getty grants in one community in the same year. Exhibit Columbus Contact List Anne Surak, Director of Artistic Director e.
