When I was a kid, I used to watch something called the Creature Double Feature on Channel 56 every weekend afternoon. They were black and white monster movies from the ‘50s. The funny thing is, I didn’t really like them, but there was nothing else to watch in those days. The ones that used to freak me out the most were the movies about giant insects like “Them.” CLIP: THEM Usually on this show, I delve into genres that mean a lot to me. But I’m equally fascinated by the stuff that other people obsessed over. It adds another layer of mystery for me – like what is the cult following about? And in this case, I’m not talking about giant insects or the 50-foot woman or King Kong. There’s only one monster that matters. CLIP: GODZILLA DS: It was on Ch. 9, which is a local station in NY tri-state area, and my brother had been watching it, as with all things because I looked up to him, I started watching it, and it was like a real living dinosaur, which I also loved because I was 4 by the way who could shoot fire, I’m 43 and my feelings are still strong about this, who shot fire and destroy cities it was the best thing of all time. Skull Island has attempted to ward off the most common criticism of that film — the characters are boring — in the most Hollywood fashion possible, which is to say it has more people in it than Godzilla does, for more of its King Kong time. But none of them are as interesting as the big ape. Godzilla King Kong, for better or worse, was animated by a strong, central idea. Skull Island has no such core. The movie fitfully competes with the earlier film for sheer beauty, King Kong lacks a clear objective. Here are three things it badly King Kong. However, in equating ‘to-be-looked-at-ness’ with a loss of subjectivity, could such a formulation be seen to conceal the cultural privilege that inheres precisely in being looked at, and the seductiveness of this position for the subjects of an increasingly visual culture? In the light of recent claims that the work of feminist film criticism has been done – that ‘the battles have been won’ - this paper considers what there might still be left to say about the relationship between looking, being looked at, desire and power in contemporary culture. Who is looked at? Who looks? What does it mean to be invisible in a culture of images? If irony complicates our reading of the politics of representation, does it mask a deadly earnestness in the contemporary aspiration to be seen at any cost? These topics are broached across a comparative reading of King Kong in its original and contemporary incarnations. So, it only makes sense that he would break into the world of American comics. The company that produces the greatest number of these comics is IDW comics. They’ve created an expansive universe for Godzilla and other assorted characters. The majority of these comics are just small mini-series telling interesting stories with Godzilla as the principal character; however, there is one series they have that’s connected. Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters, Godzilla: Ongoing, and Godzilla: Rulers of Earth. This will be the continuity that you start in Jumper. You start just before Godzilla awakens and all Hell breaks loose. You’ll need some help to survive in this world jumper. Have 1000 CP to help you ​ ​ out. This city isn’t as prone to monster attack as it is in the movies but it is still by far the most active when it comes to kaiju activity. Washington D.C, USA America’s capital city. Strangely enough this place doesn’t get hit to often by Kaiju attacks. At least, it’s not the first target hit. Paris, France The City of Lights. It’s best to be careful around here jumper; the city is soon to come under attack by the kaiju Battra under the order of two psychic, psychopathic twins: Minnette and Mallorie.
