The concept of an otherworld in historical Indo-European is reconstructed in . Comparable religiousmythological or metaphysical concepts, such as a realm of beings and a realm of the deadare found in cultures throughout the world. Many Indo- European mythologies show evidence for a in some form of "Otherworld" and in many cases such as in PersianGreek, Germanic, Celtic, Slavic and Indic mythologies a river had to be In Other Worlds to allow entrance to it and it is usually an old man that would transport the soul across the waters. All souls must cross the bridge upon death. The bridge is guarded by two four-eyed dogs. A related is that of Yama, the Hindu ruler of Hell who watches the gates of Hell with his two four-eyed dogs. The Irish Otherworld is more usually described as a paradisal fairyland than a scary place. One example which helps the reader understand the Celtic concept of the otherworld is The Voyage of Saint Brendan. Another Classic example of a Celtic "otherworld" is the Voyage of Bran. The Otherworld is often portrayed as an island to the west in the Ocean in Celtic oral tradition, and even shown on some maps of Ireland during the medieval era. The otherworld in the idea of In Other Worlds people became hard to distinguish and sometimes overlapped with the Christian idea of hell or as this was often an analogy made to the Celtic idea of an otherworld or Scandinavian idea of a . This is likely because of Roman and Scandinavian influences on Celtic cultures. Red and white are the colors of animals in the , [9] and these In Other Worlds still animate transcendent In Other Worlds and political symbols today. As was the case in the Celtic mythologiesin Germanic In Other Worlds apples were particularly associated with the Otherworld. The believed in a mythical place where birds flew for the winter and souls went after death; this realm was often identified with and it is called Vyraj. In Other Worlds is a collection of novellas by the wonderfully talented Sherrilyn Kenyon. You can argue with me on the talented part, but I stand by my love for her books. Fire and Ice is a part of the League series. He meets Livia at a bar. Livia is a princess who is forced to marry a man twice her age because she is a virgin. She decides to have a one-night stand to take away her virginity to get out of her marriage proposal. I love the League novels, even this novella, that has me wishing it was a novel. I loved Adron and it was funny how much he reminded me of his father Nykyrian. Livia was a sweet girl, but she was a very strong character. I wish it was longer…. Knightly Dreams follows Taryn a girl who just got out of a terrible breakup and has a terrible day. Her day just kept going from bad to terrible with every step she took. She is persuaded to take a romance novel featuring Sparhawk the Brave. Sparkhawk wants out of In Other Worlds world he was created to live in, so he seeks out the help of the witch to help find a new world. When Taryn wakes up the next morning she finds Sparkhawk In Other Worlds her bed. Is it odd that I liked how it made my brain hurt? I like books that make me think and this book definitely had me doing that. I liked Taryn and Sparkhawk. They were good characters, but I liked Adron and Livia more. Dragonswan is something of a prequel to the Were-Hunter series. Sebastian is a shape-shifting dragon cast off from his people for mistakes he has made. If you ask me Sebastian is a nice guy. He wins points for being heroic. Fire and Ice was my favorite of all these novellas. I had fun reading these novellas and I sped through them. This is a copy of my Dragonswan review that can be found under "Dragonswan. I mean, it's just a fantasy. You're a history professor specializing in pre-Norman Britain. A gorgeous guy who's six five comes into your office and starts chatting you up. Even though you're plain-looking? He takes you out to dinner. Instead of being intimidated by your job, you find he can quote Beowulf in Old English from memory. He walks you back to your hotel and for some strange reason you never do this! Then you two have amazing sex. With every breath he expelled, it was like his touch intensified. In Other Worlds of one tongue stroking her, she swore she could feel a hundred of them. It was as if her skin was alive and being massaged all over at once. Now, this personally sounds creepy to me. A hundred tongues? Do you know why the sex with this guy is so "heightened? Oh, of course, that's the first thing that pops into my mind. O I seem to be reading a LOT of weredragon stuff lately Now, it seems every paranormal romance author and her sister is writing about them. After having sex with this guy, both of you are suddenly branded with some geometric shape. You're his mate! If you don't bond In Other Worlds him in 3 weeks, he will be doomed to live life alone, and never have sex again Here Kenyon's created a tailor-made woman's fantasy: - Hot guy instantly in love with you for no In Other Worlds. You don't have to do anything special, say anything clever, or look sexy. He In Other Worlds instantly is in love with you because of "who you are. Since you are his mate, he can In Other Worlds have sex with anyone ever again except you. Even if you leave him which you're free to dohe's damned to a life of celibacy without you. In Other Worlds is what romance novels ARE. So, no points off. Things that fail: - While having sex, Sebastian bites Channon on the neck with his fangs and drinks her blood, and she grows fangs one- time deal In Other Worlds and drinks his blood too. I feel like I'm the only person on the planet who finds this gross and not sexy. Every time I read that I involuntarily make a "blergh" In Other Worlds. In the course of the story, he casts one sleeping spell on Channon. There's also this part where, if she had not let him in to the hotel room for sex he would have broken In Other Worlds vow of "interfering in human free will.
