35 What was He thinking? The Cross is at the centre of what Christians believe about God. Jesus died on the cross in the place of sinners for their total forgiveness before God. So what actually happened on the Cross? How did this work? What was Jesus thinking as He walked the path called the Via Dolorosa to Golgotha, the hill outside Jerusalem?

There are so many dimensions to the Cross of Jesus that previous Christian thinkers when speaking about the crucifixion referred to ‘the mystery of the Cross’. We can’t understand everything, except what has been revealed. And yet, what has been revealed is so profound, so beautiful, that if a person should take it to heart, they will never be the same. Never again see the world or themselves in the same way – the Cross is that life-transforming.

On Sunday mornings as Easter draws near, join us as we follow Jesus on that painful walk to Golgotha and discover what He was thinking. The writer to the Hebrews gives an introductory glimpse:

“For the joy set before Him, He endured the Cross…” (Hebrews: 12.2)

What was that joy He had in mind as He made His way along those dusty streets, humiliated, beaten and exhausted? Come and find out.

36 Join us for Fabric In the Hub on Sunday nights commencing 18 February @ 7pm A book club with a difference Praise style – acoustic

Paul’s letter to the Romans is regarded by many as his greatest work. Writing to Roman Christians he outlines Christian life in a unique way, carefully detailing and meshing together various strands – Christian truth, life and service – into one seamless fabric. On Sunday nights commencing 18 February, join us as we discover how the Christian faith both fits together and fits us as followers of Jesus. It is meant to be a perfect fit in both fashions. Perhaps your faith feels like a saggy and stretched out tee-shirt, loose fitting and not very comfortable to wear. Perhaps you don’t understand fully what Christians believe and how their ideas blend together; you get some of it, but not all of it. Or perhaps you want to revisit the depth and intricacy of God’s carefully made garment of faith which you have been wearing since you met Jesus at the cross.

Go deeper with God this Spring. Sign up for Fabric.
