As always, your continued support is greatly appreciated! Good luck to seven of our choir students who depart today with Ms. Allison and Mr. Sosa. They will be participating in the Panama Choir Festival hosted by the International School of Panama. Our students will have the opportunity to learn and work with other students from the region. Other participating schools include: Academia Cotopaxi Ameri- can International School (Quito, Ecuador), Carol Morgan School (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic), Colegio Menor de Quito, Euroamerican School of Monterrey (Mexico), Escuela Campo Alegre (Caracas, Venezuela), Graded School of São Paulo, The Grange School (Santiago, Chile), International School Nido de Aguilas (Santiago, Chile), International School of Panama, and the International School of Curitiba (Brazil). The setting of the nov- el starts off in Curaçao during WWII and many of the places described can still be visited to- day. Students completed a photo scavenger hunt all around Punda. They also visited the Mikvé Israel-Emanuel Synagogue and learned a lot about its history from the spiritual leader Hazzan Avery Tracht. Students, parents, and Ms. Coul- son finished off the morning at Plasa Bieu enjoy- ing many local dishes including fish and funchi just like the characters in the novel. Students were respectful, thoughtful, and enthusiastic rep- resentatives of ISC. - Nicole Coulson MS English Teacher Individuality Collaboration Involvement Respect Responsibility I AM ISC May 8, 2019 I AM ISC VOLUME 4, ISSUE 32 Elementary News: Digital Citizenship in Computer Class Students in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade have been working on digital citizenship during computer class. Respective- ly, they've worked on selecting websites that are right for them, writing emails and understanding everything about their digital footprint. The message with all grade levels is simple, just as we strive to be good citizens of the world, we should strive to be good citizens online. Just as we take measures to stay safe in real life, we have to ensure we stay safe online. The week prior to the break, grade 3 went for a short visit to our IT office to talk to Mr. Raoul and Ms. Gali- cia. They showed us how devices are connected, monitored and reminded us how a digital footprint is truly, permanent. It was an eye opening experience for them. On this same note I wanted to share Common Sense Media. This site contains a wealth of information on apps, websites, movies for parents to stay current and have meaningful conversations at home.
