NEW COFFEE SHOP Latte, chocolate caramel shortbread and carrot cake are firm favourites with the people of Coventry according to Coffee#1, the busy new coffee house at One Friargate. Since opening in March the store has attracted a loyal following of customers who can’t get enough of its handcrafted coffees, pastries, cakes, sandwiches and herbal teas. Positioned on the tree-lined Station Square and just steps from the train station, Coffee#1 Coventry is open to the public from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday. Manager Jamie Cannon said: “There’s already a real buzz here and we have lots of regulars. We see commuters, shoppers, students, workers and business people coming in to relax, socialise or have meetings. Latte, chocolate caramel shortbread and carrot cake are our best sellers by far!” Award-winning Coffee#1 has branches across the country, and prides itself on serving carefully handcrafted coffee and sumptuous snacks served in cosy coffee houses with comfy leather armchairs, reclaimed furniture and friendly baristas. It’s been a very busy period at the Coventry City of Culture Trust. Since February they have hosted four packed out public meetings with over 300 members of the public attending. Demand has been so high that the team are asking potential attendees to get in touch while additional meetings may well be scheduled.
