[email protected] www.dsacommunityfoundation.com Scholarship Nights Are On the Calendar Duluth, Minnesota – Scholarship Nights, the big kickoff of the scholarship year, will be held at local high schools in the next several weeks. Scholarship Nights provide the ideal venue for students and parents alike to identify all available resources, while also having an expert on hand to answer any questions. Each Scholarship Night is tailored to the students of the school where the event is held. Administrators from local scholarship providers, including the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation, the Marshall H. & Nellie Alworth Memorial Fund and Northland Scholarship Services will introduce the various awards and explain how to apply. Among other things, they will stress the January 15th application deadline. “The school year has just started, but it’s not too early to start thinking about scholarships,” says Alworth Fund Executive Director Patty Salo Downs. “Now is the perfect time to start working on your application.” David Hammer, Scholarship Officer at the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation continued “Few cities in the nation have the bounty of scholarships that is available to graduates of our local schools. Generous benefactors have created a plethora of awards for local students – each with its own special niche. Academics are important for some, but other awards, like the Minnesota Power Community Involvement Scholarship, stress community contributions and volunteerism. There’s something for everyone.
